An Unwanted Visitor (Part 1)
One Shot #30
Moana's POV
Maui's been staying with my family and I in Montonui for a few months now. It's been amazing having him around. In addition to me loving his company, he's been helping out with a lot of the village tasks such as fishing and moderate construction. Though a few days ago, a random person came falling out of the sky, literally. She's an older woman who appears to be in her sixties. She claims to be a cousin of Maui's and that she was close to his mother. You know the one who threw him into the sea a lifetime ago. I've been meaning to tell Maui about this, but I'm really scared of his reaction. I know for a fact it's not going to be a positive one.
I walk through the village to try to find Maui. I can't find him anywhere until a coconut hits in me on the forehead. I groan in annoyance, but laugh when I find Maui hanging from the tree. "Sorry princess, I was hungry and trying to get myself a snack. Are you okay?" I pick the coconut up off the ground and eat it. "I'm fine Maui. Are you busy right now?" He jumps down from the tree. "Not at all. What's up?" "I was wondering if we could talk. Maybe somewhere more private?" Maui nods and heads towards our secret place, which happens to be the cave of truth. You know the famous one that helped to remind the people of Montonui and I that we're voyagers. No one goes there besides us anyway. Therefore, we made it our secret place to talk, escape problems, etc.
I sit down on a rock across from Maui and play with my hands nervously. Maui senses my nerves. "You don't look so good curly. I'm sure whatever you have to tell me isn't that bad." I laugh nervously. "Oh I don't Maui. That depends on whether or not you like people from your past turning up again." His expression shifts into a strange one. "Moana, who's on the island that shouldn't be?" I sigh. "One of your cousins that knew your mother. She fell from the sky literally the other day and my mother has been letting her stay with my father and her. I've been wanting to tell you for days, but I didn't know how you feel about this."
Maui stands up, balls his fists, and punches the wall, causing a bunch of rocks to fall down. I back away a bit. When Maui gets angry, I become afraid of him. I know it's horrible for me to become that way, but he's Maui. His strength alone could kill me. "Why didn't you tell me from the moment she got here? Why would you allow your parents to do something so STUPID?" "I-I'm sorry Maui." Mockingly, he responds with "I-I'm sorry? That's what you have to say to this?" I nod stupidly. He punches the wall one more time and storms off. Though, I don't follow him. I know he needs space and time to process this news.
Hoped that you guys liked this part of this one shot! The idea popped into my head last night so I decided to work with it. Also, this series of one shots is #408 in fanfiction. Thank you so much <3 :) -Mary
