The Devil With A Shotgun (Part 8)
One Shot #31 (Cont.)
Maui's POV
A few days later...
I'm seeing Moana again tonight. I'm both super excited and nervous. I feel like I was too weepy the other day. That side of me could scare her off just as much as my aggressive one. Though since I started talking to Moana a few weeks ago, I find myself becoming more tame. Unlike anyone else, even my parents, I find myself acting like a more normal person around her. I'll never be normal, let alone a good man, but when I'm with her, I feel like I might have a shot of working towards it. If I fight my demons hard enough, maybe one day I'll come out on the other side. That'd be amazing. It really, really would be.
So, the movie we're going to see is Fast and Furious 8. The local theater is having an early screening of it. The tickets cost me a fortune, but they were worth every penny. Then for dinner, I picked out this classy French restaurant not too far from the theater. I want to make a good impression on her. I also want to show her that I'm not some low life slimeball. I don't know if she'll ever see me as anything besides and a murder. I've killed nearly a hundred people between all of my shootings. That's a lot of blood and innocent lives being lost out of my stupid, worthless pain. I should taken the gun and just shot myself afterwards. That's my demons talking. I'm glad I didn't though. Not only is that cowardly, but it's the easy way out. I deserve to face consequences for my actions.
That evening...
Moana told me she'd meet me at the front of campus as well as that she's on her way. I sit on a bench and wait for her. Of course, I'm disguised so no one but her will recognize me. Last thing I need is for someone to start trouble with me.
Fifteen minutes later...
Moana shows up practically out of breath. "I'm sorry for taking so long. I took a nap and only woke up a half an hour ago. So that only gave me fifteen minutes to get ready and then another fifteen to get across campus to meet you. I also apologize for looking like crap. I normally don't look as horrid as I do right now." I eye her up and done casually. My heart feels like it's going to drop out of my chest. She looks incredible. Of course I can't tell her that. I give her a small smile. "You look fine Moana. Nothing to apologize for. You've had a long week. I'm glad you got some rest for our da---- night out." I hope she didn't pick up on that. I can tell she did by her raised eyebrow. "You were about to call this a date, weren't you Maui?" I facepalm mentally. Damn it Maui. You should never speak again. I sigh. "It was an accident. I'm sorry." Moana squeezes my hand lightly. "It's okay Maui. No harm done here."
I breathe a sigh of relief as we head down to my car. Trying to be a gentleman, I open her door for her and help her in. She blushes and gives me a cute smile. I find myself blushing too as I get around to my side of the car to get in as well. We then head to the movies.
Three hours later... After the movie...
Fast and Furious 8 was amazing. Surprisingly, Moana loved it just as much, it not more than I did. She's been fangirling nonstop. Me on the other hand, I'm saving my fanboying for when I get home. I'm not making a fool of myself over dinner.
Five minutes later...
We get to the French place and have an amazing dinner. Moana and I talk endlessly for two hours over a really classy and quite expensive meal followed by dessert. I almost offered Moana some red wine, but remembered that she's not yet legal drinking age. She still has two more years to go. She'll get there soon enough though. All and all though, tonight has been absolutely incredible. I really think I'm going to end up falling in love with this girl. I'm terrified of that actually...
