I Vow To You (Part 6)

One Shot #32 (Cont.)

Maui's POV

Moana's been walking around the apartment for two hours. I don't mean to be a creep, but I've been watching her out the corner of my eye the entire time. I can tell she's really making an effort to get used to being back again as well as trying to remember. I'm proud of her. She and I went through something severely traumatic, that being the car accident of course, but yet we didn't let it stop us from riding in a car, let alone living life.

As I continue to watch Moana, I notice her stop at the picture of her and I posing on the boardwalk in Atlantic City on her twenty first birthday. I squint and notice her smiling and blushing a little bit. I find myself doing the same. Gah she's so cute. How did I get so lucky? Truthfully, I may never know. Me being the curious man that I am, I make my way over to where Moana's standing. "That was a wonderful day." Moana jumps slightly at the sound of my voice, but her shoulders along with the rest of her body relaxes when she realizes that it's just me. "I didn't mean to scare you Moana. I saw you studying this picture and got a little excited. This picture is one of my favorites. It was also the best weekend of my life."

"Where were we Maui?" I kiss her on the forehead. "We, my love, were in Atlantic City. This was three years ago for your twenty first birthday. You wanted to try gambling like most adults do. You instantly got hooked. I lost all of my money, but you won four hundred dollars. You having the wonderful heart that you do, you ended up splitting the money with me. Thank you by the way." She giggles and I melt inside. "You're welcome Maui. So I'm guessing this picture was taken near the beach?" I smile lovingly at her. "That's correct. Before we went gambling that Saturday night, you were so eager to see the beach and famous boardwalk that you jumped out of the car, literally. You ran so fast that I developed asthma trying to catch up to you."

She playfully puts her hands on hips. "You seem to be in fine shape. Don't be such a baby." I smirk at her. "Fine, I'll let you have that one, but I'll get you back." Moana sticks her tongue out at me. "That's it!" I gently pick her up and swing her over my shoulder. She's as light as feather so carrying her is easy. She kicks and hits me while I laugh. "MAUI, PUT ME DOWN!" " I would, but quite frankly I like the view from up here." Moana then kicks me... in the... do I dare say... balls. I fall to the floor, clutching my lower zone. She smirks down at me. "You know, I really like the view from down there. Not so fun being mocked is it." I grumble to myself. "Will you help me up please?" She sighs and extends a hand for me to grab. I bow humbly. "Now if you excuse me Moana, I'm going to go ice my balls now. They actually hurt a lot."

Moana frowns. "I didn't mean to hurt you that badly. I'm sorry. I was just joking around." I can see she's about to cry and I panic. "It's okay Moana. Accidents happen love. I'll be fine in a few hours. Though, do you mind making supper?" "Not at all." I watch her go to fridge, grab a pizza, put it in the oven, and before we know it, it's ready to be eaten. Though, dinner is eerily silent, causing me to worry a lot about Moana's sudden shift in mood. She doesn't need to beat herself up over something so minor. I know that's easier said than done though because I do the exact same myself, especially when she's not around.
