The History Teacher And His Student (Part 11)

One Shot #23 (Cont.)

Maui's POV

The next afternoon...

I woke up about two hours ago, which was ten thirty. For the first time in ages, I truly had a good night's sleep, which probably due to having Moana in my arms in bed. I'm going to sound like a complete dork, but having her in my arms just makes my heart so happy. Moana's still sleeping like a princess. I made her some mac and cheese for lunch because I know she'll be hungry when she wakes up. I already had some myself, but knowing myself, my cravings will get the better of me and I'll end up having more later.

Two hours later...

Moana rolls out of bed at the early hour of two thirty in the afternoon. She must have been completely worn out to have slept for over fourteen hours. I hope she's okay. "Hey love, how'd you sleep?" She gives me a sleepy but adorable smile. "I slept good for once. How about you?" I smile back. "Same here. I made you some mac and cheese earlier figuring you'd be hungry. Are you?" She nods eagerly and I fetch the mac and cheese out of the fridge. Do you want it cold or heated up?" "Heated up please." I put in the microwave and set it for two minutes. As it cooks, I turn back to Moana. "Do you normally sleep for that long Moana? I'm happy you're well rested and all, but I've never seen anyone sleep that long because a friend who was in a coma a few years ago."

"It's nothing to worry about Maui. I just sleep a lot on the weekends because I don't sleep much during the week. Think of it is making up for all of the lost sleep." I nod and get her mac and cheese out of the microwave as it beeps obnoxiously. She digs in immediately. As I watch her eat, my stomach rumbles and I find myself wanting a plateful as well. I sit down across from Moana at the kitchen table. "This is amazing mac and cheese Maui. You're a great cook." I blush. "This is nothing. Wait until you try one of my gourmet dishes sometime." "I'd love to. Anyways Maui, can I talk to you about something?" I lean in closer to her face until we're just inches apart. "You can tell me anything darling."

"I love it when you call me that." I smile. "And I love how you smile when I do. Anyways, what's on your mind?" Her smile turns into a more neutral expression. "I'm a really bad liar. When I lie, it's rare, but I feel super guilty about doing so afterwards. I feel guilty for lying to my parents about where I am and for Kayla having to cover for me. It's not fair for me to put her in that kind of position." I nod in agreement but stay silent. "I want to tell my parents about us soon. I'm having a hard time keeping a secret too much longer." I sigh. "I know. I'm sorry if I was the one who made you feel like we had to be a secret." She looks at me with sympathy. "You're not the only one at fault. I'm equally, if not more at fault. So I'm sorry too Maui." I put a finger to her lips and silence her. "You have nothing to be sorry for. As for telling your parents, how about I come over to your house next weekend and we can tell them together?"

Moana smiles. "I'd like that. Next weekend works good because I need a little time to tell my parents and slowly prepare them for meeting you." My hands fidget but I hide them under the table so Moana can't tell how nervous I am about the thought of meeting them, let alone telling them who I am. "Do you think they'll like me?" "I think they will. They might be in shock at first, but they'll come around to accepting us dating. If they don't accept us, then screw them. I've spent far too long trying to please everyone else. I deserve happiness." I kiss her on the forehead. "You don't just deserve happiness, you deserve the world. I'll try my best to give it to you." She comes over to my side of the table, sits next to me, and leans her head on my shoulder. "I don't want the world Maui, I just want you."
