The Girl Who Has Everything And The Guy Who Has Very Little (Part 7)

One Shot #28 (Cont.)

 Moana's POV

Three days later... Rehearsing the scene...

I invited Maui over to my place to rehearse the scene. He's currently marveling at every little thing. It's almost like he's never seen half of my belongings before. As I ponder it a bit, I realize that that might be the case. I've heard rumors around school that Maui happens to be one of the three scholarship students at our school. I want to ask him about it, but I know that it's a sensitive subject. So rather than asking him directly, I'll wait for him to open up to me about it. "Maui, do you like it?" He grins. "I love it. You're so lucky to live in such a nice apartment. I'd give anything to have this kind of lifestyle. Mine sucks." I frown and put a hand on his shoulder. "I would never force you to talk about anything if you don't want to, but like I said before, I'm here for you. I know that I act like a spoiled brat sometimes and I can be hard to deal with, but I want to be better. A better person, a better friend, and adapt a better attitude."

Maui puts hand over mine. "I appreciate that Moana. For the record, I've never thought you were spoiled brat or her to deal with. In fact, I think very highly of you." I gasp. "Why?" He frowns. "Why? Well let's see, you're so smart, talented in everything you do, hardworking, kind to others, and super pretty." My heart flutters slightly. "No guy has ever complimented me on more than my looks before. It feels nice." Maui crosses his arms across his chest. "Well they're idiots." I smile and find myself blushing. I mentally groan. I don't want Maui to think I'm this hormonal girl. Hopefully he doesn't notice it. Maui stares at me, but he doesn't say anything so I think I'm in the clear... for now that is.

I shake my head and snap out of my daze so we can start rehearsing. We manage to get through the first half of the scene when something I didn't notice before comes up... a kissing scene. "Um Maui, did you know that you wrote a kissing scene?" I watch his happy demeanor turn into a panicked one. "I thought you noticed it before when you read it a few days ago. Does it make you uncomfortable? We don't have to do it if it does." I place my hand on his shoulder and shake him gently. "It's okay Maui. I don't mind doing a kissing scene. In fact, I've never done one before and I'm curious to see what it's like." Maui slowly relaxes under my touch. "Though, can we wait until the presentation to do it? That way it feels more real." Maui smiles. "I'd like that."

We manage to rehearse the rest of the scene without any awkwardness. We then rehearse it a couple more times before stopping for a dinner break. My parents ordered us a pizza before they left to go out for awhile. It's half buffalo chicken and half pepperoni. In other words, my two favorites wrapped up in one. Maui grins at me with a mouth of pizza. I giggle. "Maui, chew before you talk please. He nods and shallows before talking. "Thank you for the pizza. I haven't had pizza in awhile. I frown at that. Maui seems to have such a hard life. My heart truly goes out to him. "Maui, are you happy?" He tenses up a bit and I know I've poked a nerve. "Why do you ask?" I sigh. "You just seem so stressed out both in school and outside of it. You try to hide it, but I can see through your facade. You're not fine Maui."

Maui holds his head in hands. "No I'm not fine. I never am. I'd tell you, but if it ever got back to Trevor and his goons, they'd make my life a living hell even worse than it already is." I stare into his eyes. "Please tell me Maui. I swear I'm not going to tell anyone." He sighs. "I was a foster kid until recently, I got adopted by an abusive father who hurts me constantly and has tried to rape me twice, I get bullied everyday by Trevor and his friends, I'm a freak to most, I work day and night to make ends meet, and most days I wish I was dead." I look at Maui in shock and sadness. I get up and wrap my arms around him, pulling him in for a hug. He responds to my actions well and hugs me back even tighter. "I'm so sorry Maui. No one should have to go through all of that. If things get bad at home and you need a place to crash, you're more than welcome to stay here."

Maui frowns. "I don't want to intrude on you or your parents. After all, everyone deserves to have privacy in their own home." "You're not intruding. I'm offering it to you if need be. The thought of you living in a place like that on a regular basis troubles me. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I didn't offer you a safe place." Maui reaches out for my hands. I gladly let him take them in his and play with them for a bit. "Thank you Moana." "You're welcome Maui."

Hoped that you guys liked this part of this one shot! I'm sorry it's depressing. I'm having one of my moods again because of people pissing me off and some things going on at work. -Mary
