The Girl Who Has Everything And The Guy Who Has Very Little (Part 1)

One Shot #28

Moana's POV

For all of my sixteen years of life, I've lived the most amazing life. I've gotten everything I could ever want including good looks, money, a dream career, wits, brains, and a decent amount of fame. Not every teenage girl gets to live in New York City, let alone have all of the things I named. In addition, my father is the CEO of Barnes and Noble, which is one my favorite stores. I buy books from there like you wouldn't believe. Just ask my parents. They'll tell you that I practically own a library. As for my mother, she is the owner of US Weekly. We live a luxurious apartment in Manhattan. We have absolutely everything and sometimes we often take that granted, especially myself. Everyday when I get driven to school, I see the huge homeless and/or poor population of the city. It breaks my heart. Every now and then, I'll give something to those who truly need it. I like to think of it as one of my good deeds.

I'm a junior in high school currently. School started up again for the year last week. For classes, I have Algebra 2, AP English Language, Anatomy, Spanish 3, Chorus, Theater, and US History 2. My schedule is jam packed this year. People were right. Junior year is definitely the busiest and most stressful year of high school. Part of it's my fault. I chose some hard classes this year in order to look good on paper as well as to pick my brain a bit. I have a lot of friends though, which is great. We do everything together from partner up on assignments to participating in school plays to eating lunch as a group. Though out of my seven classes, there are five in which this one intriguing boy happens to be in. He's new to the school and to New York. I think his name is Maui, but I'm not sure. He seems awfully shy. With the exception of his two friends, he keeps to himself. I want to introduce myself to him, but I don't think he likes me very much. I'm not as you say "Of his caliber."

I don't mean to play the high school stereotype card of popular kids versus not popular kids, but we tend to keep to our social groups. It's often considered weird if a girl such as myself were to get close to the school's biggest nerd. It's not right, but it's the best way to survive high school. I've survived half of high school so far without being bullied, therefore I'd like the second half of high school to be the same way.

Hoped that you guys liked this part of this one shot! It's a little similar to my previous one, but several details are different. In addition, the roles are reversed, Moana being the popular/well known girl and Maui being the outcast. This was another reader suggestion. A lot of you have been requesting me to write one shots based on really cool ideas! Thank you for giving me so many to work with. :) -Mary
