An Unwanted Visitor (Part 3)
One Shot #30 (Cont.)
Moana's POV
Hours have gone by and I'm still sitting in my current spot and Maui is still in the cave, sitting a few feet away. I can feel him starring into my soul. I feel awful. I made a horrible mistake and made him feel even worse by ignoring him. I should talk to him. In a whisper barely loud enough for him to hear, I say his name. His eyes instantly meet mine, silently pleading permission to come closer to me. I use mine to motion for him to do so and he does.
"Maui, I am so sorry for everything, including springing your cousin onto you, not being more understanding, and for how I reacted to you earlier. I hope you can forgive me." He looks down at me sadly. "I'm sorry too. None of this was your fault, but I took my anger out on you. I have horrible temper and I really need to learn to control it better. My biggest fear is snapping and hurting the people I love, which is you and your parents. If I ever hurt any of you guys, especially you, I truly think I'd kill myself." I frown. "I don't like being scared of you Maui. You're my best friend. I love you so much."
I've never seen Maui cry before, but he breaks down right in front of me. His back slides against the wall of the cave and he curls up into the ball that I've been in myself for hours. I slide down beside him and wrap my arms around him. I can tell he bottles his emotions up. It's not good to do that, but I understand because I tend to do it myself a lot.
After he's done letting everything out, he looks at me with puffy, red eyes and a tear stained face. "Maui..." He doesn't look at me. I sigh and cup his face gently to get him to look me in the eyes. "Please don't go back to your dark place. I know you and you look like you're going to try and shut down on me." My voice cracks and I can feel another round of tears coming on. "Please don't shut me out. You're my best friend. I need you. You are the only reason I get through each and everyday. You're the only person who truly understands me. I've known that for awhile actually. I think you feel the same way too because you easily could've left to get killed by Te Ka, but you came back. Even after defeating Te Ka, you even came back to my home with me. I think that speaks for itself Maui."
Maui reaches for my hands and squeezes them tightly. I giggle. "Maui, you're cutting off my blood flow." He blushes and loosens his grip a little bit. "Sorry Moana. I'm amazed at how you put with me. I'm a pretty big pain in the ass." I lean my head on his shoulder. "Yeah, but it's all apart of your charm." Maui smiles down at me. "You're going to make some guy very happy someday. I hope I can be there to see it." I kiss him on the cheek. "I'd be honored if you were. For the record, I'm sure you'll find love someday. After all, you have an eternity." He laughs. "Yeah that I do. I'm not going to chase after love. I've done that too many times. When the time it is right, it'll come to me."
Hoped that you guys liked this one shot! I updated earlier because I have a lot to do tomorrow and have to be up early so I figured why not get an early start on things. I'll start writing another one shot tomorrow too. By the way, I ship the heck out of Maui and Moana, but I figure every now and then it's an interesting to spice it up by having them be platonic. :) -Mary
