May I Have This Dance? (Part 2)

One Shot #13 (Cont.)

Moana's POV

Time Skip... A Week Later... The Day Of The Dance...

It's currently noon time. The dance starts at six this evening and goes until eleven. I'm trying to keep myself busy for the next few hours. I'm eating a light lunch right now so I'll have room to eat tonight. There's going to be a huge buffet of food with everything from salad to chicken to pasta. I'm having an egg and cheese sandwich and banana smoothie for lunch. While eating, I'm also doing my makeup. My mother offered to do it, but I've been wanting to put my makeup skills to the test for ages. It's actually coming out pretty decent. I'm going to for an ocean inspired look, to go with my ocean blue dress. It's like a sundress, but slightly longer and more flowy. I don't know if that's a word, but oh well.

I can't wait for Maui to see me tonight. He's never seen me dressed up before so his reaction should be an interesting one. The guys going to the dance have to wear suits so he'll be dressed up too tonight. Now I've only ever seen Maui in leaf skirts, muscle tops, and shorts. I'm just as excited, if not more, to see how Maui's going to look as well as him seeing how I look. He's coming by at five thirty to get me. My parents want to do a little photo op before we head to the dance. GAH! Can five thirty come any sooner?"

5 hours later... 5:30 pm on the dot...

There's a knock on the door of my hut. I scramble to get my purse filled with necessities and open the door. When I do, Maui looks me up and down in awe, causing me to blush. "Moana, you look stunningly perfect. I'm literally weak in the knees right now because of how beautiful you look." "You look incredible Maui. Suits actually suit you really well. I'm glad I finally get to see you in one." He laughs. "Don't get used to it darling, you won't see me in one again until our wedding day." Maui puts a hand to his mouth, probably out of shock. I take it he wasn't expecting those words to come out of his mouth. I end blushing even more. "I didn't know marriage was a part of the plan, but I wouldn't mind it someday."

My parents then pop up out of no where, snapping several pictures. We pose for a few more together before heading into the heart of the village to attend the dance. When we enter, all eyes are on Maui and I. My nerves are beginning to form. "Maui, why is everyone staring at us?" He smirks. "They're staring because they wish they were as good looking as we are." I laugh. "You're the good looking one, I'm just average." He grabs my arm gently. "Don't ever say you're just average again. You're perfect. This is going to sound cheesy coming out of my mouth but it's the truth. When God made you, he made an angel." I blush tremendously and hide my face against Maui's arms. He chuckles and presses his lips to my forehead, giving me a tender kiss.

Everyone alternates between eating and dancing. Maui and I decide to eat first, relax a bit, and then dance off our meal afterwards. I watch Maui grab one of everything and decide to the same. I mean you only live once right? We managed to get a private table away from the crowd. There's only one other table near us and it consists of my parents and my father's adviser. The food is incredible though. Maui and I moan as everything makes contact with our tongues. It feels like I died and went to food heaven.

After we eat, we rest our stomachs for a few and head out onto the dance floor. As we get to the center of it, a slow song begins to play. I recognize the song based on the intro. It's La Vie En Rose, the Dean Martin version, which is my favorite version. Even though we live on an island, we still listen to all genres of music from all over the world. I smile and begin to quietly sing along with it. Maui catches me singing. He pulls me towards him gently, occasionally spinning me around or lifting me up in the air. "You're so adorable Moana. You also sing beautifully. I could listen to you sing for hours." I gaze up at Maui. "I love you." Maui's jaw drops. "You do?" "I do." He spins me again, making me feel like a princess. "I love you too Moana. To be honest with you, tonight is the best night of my life. I've been alive for three thousand years and I've never been happier."

I lean in closer to Maui and he does the same. We go from being a foot apart, to a few inches apart, to an inch apart, to our lips crashing again one another. Maui's arms are wrapped around my waist as he gets deeper into the kiss so I wrap my arms around his shoulders. When we pull apart, we let the moment linger for a minute before either one of us speaks. "Tonight's a perfect dream that I don't want wake up from Maui." He smiles. "I agree, but the night's still young Moana. Let's live it up."

Maui and I continue to dance and talk for hours. We end up being the last ones to leave. That goes to show how big of a deal tonight was for the both of us. Tonight was the night that made me realize that it's been Maui all along. Maui is the one for me. He's the man I'm going to marry someday. The truth is, I can't wait until that day comes.
