The next stop on our trip was Philly. Elliot was going way out of the way we planned on going, because his stomach is deciding where we may end up next. He was hungry for Philly cheese steaks, so that is where we had to go.

"So, are you two gonna get something to eat?" Elliot yelled, as he sped down the freeway, one hand on the steering wheel and the other holding onto my hand.

"Not hungry!" I yelled, since the windows are open and the sound of just the air is incredbly loud.

"Liv, you gotta eat. Come on!" He yelled back, but I just closed my eyes and leaned closer to the open window to block out his constant speaking.

[*]

Elliot found a restaurant and he parked out front of it. He asked Cynthia to wait in the car so we could talk for a few minutes, but I didn't want anything to do with it. I just wanted to get as far away from Manhattan as possible and being in Philadelphia is not far enough away. I'd rather be in the North Pole than this close to my freaking father and his "girlfriend".

"Alright, speak." Elliot spoke, as he leaned against a tree, as I worked my hair back into a pony tail.

"Woof." I groaned, and he laughed softly before shaking his head.

"Come on, Liv. Tell me what I can do to help you. I hate seeing you so upset, and this isn't a time to be upset! We are going cross country and then back again! Liv!" He exclaimed, and I frowned.

"I want my Dad back. I want my Mom to be with him, and not dead. I want Serena to be so far away that she can't hurt me anymore. But you can't do any of that. So just take Cynthia in and get lunch. I'm hanging out in the car." I spoke, before turning and walking away from him. I climbed into the car and told Cynthia to get something to eat.

I closed my eyes to try and sleep for a little bit before we got back on the road, but instead my cell rang. I reached into my pocket and opened it, to only see my father's number. I swallowed hard before accepting the call and putting it to my ear.

"Hey." I sighed quietly.

"Where are you, Olivia?" He questioned, his voice was full of sleep. I was wondering if he even remembered what happened last night.

"I'm in Philadelphia with Elliot and Cynthia." I replied, slowly and completely unsure. Why was he asking me this anyway?

"I want you to come back to Albany, now." He spoke. I started to laugh, bitterly, in response.

"Why are you acting like this, Liv? What happened to my sweet daughter?" He questioned.

"I'm acting like this because you are dating Serena! And you disowned Cynthia and me last night. Do you not remember? You said that everything that Mom left us has to be returned or else you will call the police on us. You cut us off completely. Now you have an apartment in Albany and an empty house in Manhattan." I sighed.

"I'm drinking again." He breathed, and I frowned as I started to play with the frayed ends of my jean shorts.

"You promised Mom." I whispered, and he sighed.

"Yeah, I know I promised her. But it's so hard to stay sober when I don't have her next to me anymore. I could never love Serena as much as I love Marge, but I can't just stop seeing Serena."

"It's not hard to break up with someone. Just think about how you disowned your only daughters. Just yell at her, tell her that she is worthless, and then kick her out of your apartment." I huffed, before ending the car.

Elliot walked out of the building with two sandwiches, and he smiled at me as he motioned for me to put my window down.

I sighed, because I knew he wouldn't give up. But that's why I love him. He would never give up on me or us. No matter how stupid I can be.

[*]

We stopped in several places as we made our way to California. We had a lot of fun in the month it took us to get there, and every mile we drove helped Cynthia and I heal a bit more from our mother's death, and I healed a bit more from what happened between Serena and myself.

"So, we've been together for a little over three years." Elliot spoke, as he and I stood on the Santa Monica pier. Cynthia was talking with a guy she met when we got here, one that she was already crushing on.

"Yeah." I sighed as I leaned back against his chest. He ran his hands over my waist before removing one. I closed my eyes against the hot sun, but then the sun was on my back as Elliot turned me around.

"Do you love me?" Elliot asked, and I laughed softly and nodded.

"I love you so much, Elliot. And you know that. I tell you multiply times a day." I grinned, and he shrugged.

"I feel like you need to tell me even more. Like every single second of every single day for the rest of our lives." He spoke, and I closed my eyes as I laughed again.

But when I opened my eyes, I looked down at my boyfriend, and he was kneeling in front of me, a diamond ring in his hand.

"El-"

"Come on. You knew this was gonna happen soon. I love you more than words can describe. And I want to be able to help you through every. I only want you." He smiled, as I heard the shutter of a camera. I turned and saw Cynthia taking pictures, a smile spread across her face.

"Uh, yeah." I breathed, and he looked at me.

"You wanna marry me?" He questioned, and I smiled and nodded.

"Yeah. I want to marry you more than I can ever express. God, you are still that annoying person who forced me to be his friend many years ago." I grinned and he laughed. He slipped the ring onto my finger before standing and wrapping his arms around me.

He hugged me tightly before kissing me gently.

"Thanks." I whispered into his ear as we hugged again.

"For what?" He asked, as he wiped a tear from my cheek.

"For being my savior." I whispered.
