None of the kids were in a place where they could talk without freaking out. So Fin and I called John and he told us that either we can come back or we can just sit and wait here. Maybe a parent would show up and we could really figure out what was happening.
So Fin went to get us something to drink, and I went to see the two infants that had been having drug-related seizures.
"Hey, I'm Detective Benson with the Manhattan Special Victims Unit. I was wondering if anyone has come to see these two babies yet?" I asked as I showed a nurse at the nurse's station my badge. She frowned and shook her head.
"No. They have been in there on life support since they came in, and no one has been able to just sit with them." She spoke, and I nodded slowly.
"Would you be okay if I sat with them?" I asked, and she nodded.
"Of course. The doctor doesn't know if they will make it, so having someone there may help them a bit."
She led me to the small room, and just had me wash my hands and then she pulled a chair up and I sat between the two cribs.
Each baby looked so much smaller than they actually were. I do not know how anyone would let their child get hurt like all of these children have today. If Christopher was to ever get hurt this bad, I'd be out for blood.
"Okay, little ones... I hope that your parents had nothing to do with this because you both are going to need someone to support you and love you." I whispered, as I gently caressed each of their heads as they continued to sleep.
[*]
No one showed up that night. It seemed as if all of the parents had disappeared, or were running. I traded off with Monique overnight, and when I went to find Fin, I saw Elliot sitting outside of the large room that all of the children were being kept in. I walked over to where my husband sat, and I sank down beside him.
"I didn't expect to see you here, baby."
"Cy is watching Chris, and I thought that maybe I'd just sit here in case they need anything." He replied, as he grabbed my hand and squeezed it gently.
"I was sitting with the two babies. Both aren't doing great at all." I sighed, as I looked over at him. I could already see the dark bags growing under his eyes, and I knew that I probably wasn't looking any better than he was. Cases like this always wore someone down, and it was really wearing down the two crews having to investigate it.
"I also had to get my hand set." He spoke, as he held up his right hand. I eyed it and frowned.
"You broke it?" I mused, and he nodded.
"I punched a wall. I'm sorry." He whispered, before laying his head on my shoulder. I rested my cheek against his shortly cut hair, before sighing softly.
"Please don't do that anymore, alright? I'll forgive you for this the first time. Okay, baby?"
"Okay." He whispered.
I let go of his hand, and wrapped my arm around his shoulder and held him close, while he laid his hand against my stomach.
"I'm so scared about raising our children in a world like this."
"I know. I am too." I spoke because I couldn't comfort him because I felt the same.

Early the next morning, I was walking out of the room where the babies were, I saw a teenage boy walking to the nurse's station. He looked very suspicious and concerned. I grabbed my phone and texted Fin, before approaching him.
"Hey, is there anything I can help you with?" I questioned, and he swallowed hard as he looked at me.
"Are you a nurse?" He asked, and I shook my head.
"No, I volunteered to sit with the victims. Are you related to one of them?" I asked as I tried to not seem like a cop. But it's hard not to sound like when, when you are one.
"No. I just need to see them. Okay? I just need to make sure they are okay." He begged, and I swallowed hard.
"Uh, then I guess come with me," I spoke. I headed towards the room with the babies, and I saw Fin walking down the hall. I grabbed the boy's arm and pinned him against the wall before handcuffing him.
"You say you don't know them, but you seem pretty damn concerned." I huffed before Fin came over and finished cuffing him before reading him his rights. We do not know how he is involved, but it seems like he is involved somehow.
[*]
"You arrested someone!" Munch yelled at me, as I stood in his office.
"I started to cuff him, but Fin came over and cuffed and read him his rights." I sighed, as I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Olivia, you are on desk duty! What if he had a knife or a gun and hurt you?!"
"Everyone gets patted down before going into the hospital! ER entrance or the main one! But you sent me to the hospital..."
"Don't you-"
"Captain, I'm a big girl, I can arrest someone when I have to. And I didn't really arrest him. Fin did!"
"You may be an adult, but you are on desk duty. Would your husband be happy if he found out that you put yourself and your child into harm's way?"
"You act like I was participating in a gunfight!" I sighed.
"Go home, Detective." He spat, and my eyes went wide. I nodded before taking my gun and badge off.
"I'm assuming you want these for right now." I breathed, before sitting them on his desk. I left his office and slammed the door, before heading to my desk.
"Liv?" Brian asked, and I just shook my head.
"If I was you, I'd back off. Please." I begged, before grabbing my jacket and pulling it on. I grabbed my bag and headed out of the squad room, completely pissed off at everything.
