For the longest time, no one knew that we had a foster son. Only the crew and Cynthia did. But now that we have the all clear to adopt him, we decided that it was time to introduce him to Elliot's family, and then we were going to have him meet Cynthia since she only knew of him.
"Do you think Serena will ever be good enough to meet Chrissy and be a part of his life?" I asked Elliot, as we drove towards his parents' house. Jason, Lousia, Josephine, Joseph Jr., and Garrett were all going to be there to meet the little boy that would soon be their nephew.
"I hope so. Even if there is some history between you two, she's still your mother and is important to you. I just wish that Marge and Don would've been around longer to meet him, and whatever children may come in the future." Elliot spoke, and I nodded slowly.
At moments like this, when huge things are happening in my life, I really just missed my parents. I missed the talks my mother and I used to have, and her hugs. And I missed being able to harass my father, and after my mother passed, taking care of him while he was sick kinda kept me going.
"Me too," I whispered. I looked out the window and watched as the trees went by, but now I was a little down as I was thinking about my parents, and even Serena. As long as she can finish this program, she may be able to be in Christopher's life. But probably not for a while.

"Alright everyone, this is our son, Christopher." Elliot smiled, as he carried Christopher down the stairs of his parents' house. He didn't want to wake up when we brought him into the house, so we laid him on Bernie and Joseph's bed, and now he was sleepy but ready to meet his big family.
I stood up from where I had been sitting by Louisa and walked over to where my husband and son stood. Elliot and I had completely given up on the foster son label on Christopher, because we had started the paperwork for his adoption, and he was our son no matter what.
"Oh, those red curls." Bernie smiled, as she walked out of the kitchen and towards us.
"Mommy?" Christopher whispered, and I smiled.
"This is your Grandma Bernie, and that man is your Grandpa Joseph," I spoke, and Christopher looked at the first two people over to us. He laid his head against Elliot's shoulder, before reaching his small hand out to them.
"I'm Christopher." He whispered.
"Oh, don't be shy sweetie. We are so excited to meet you and get to know you." Bernie smiled, as she took his hand and kissed it gently. Christopher reached his arms out to her, which surprised us all.
"Your my Daddy's Mommy?" Christopher questioned, as Bernie settled him on her hip.
"Yeah. Oh, aren't you just so adorable and sweet!"
After Christopher warmed up to Bernie, it wasn't long before he was warmed up to all of Elliot's family. He was joking around with them, and at the end of the night he had settled onto Joseph's lap and fell asleep while they watched a football game.
"Liv, I'm so happy for you and Elliot." Bernie smiled, as I put the plates away from tonight.
"I'm sorry that we kept it from you all for so long, but we just didn't want to lose him, and then disappoint you all too," I spoke, as I shut the cabinet and looked at her.
"Don't worry. There is many years ahead of us where we can spoil him and make up for the few months he's been hidden from us." Bernie laughed.
"I'm sure that he'll be fine with that. I'm just so happy." I smiled, as I quickly embraced my mother in law. She held me close and sighed softly.
"It's crazy to see you and Elliot changing so much. I feel like it was just yesterday that he was kissing you and you were smacking him because you weren't ready for him to kiss you." She laughed.
"Oh god, I hope Christopher doesn't get cocky and think every girl wants to kiss him," I spoke, and Bernie and I started to laugh at that.
If Christopher hangs out with Elliot enough, he'll be kissing girls on his first day of preschool.

We fast-tracked the adoption so that when we sent Christopher to preschool in the fall, he'd have our last name. So within a month and a half of the hearing, we were back in the same courtroom, ready to adopt our son.
"Alright, are you two..." I stopped speaking as I walked out of my bedroom, completely dressed and ready to head to the adoption hearing. I looked at my husband and my son, sitting on the couch in their pajamas. Elliot and Christopher both looked up at me. Elliot needed to shower and shave, and Christopher needed to get dressed. I had asked Elliot to get our kid dressed, but instead, they were watching cartoons on the couch and completely ignoring what I had asked them to do.
"Hi, Mommy!" Christopher exclaimed, as he tried to act all cute so I wouldn't be angry at him and his father for not getting ready.
"Oh, you two cannot be left together! Elliot go shower and shave. I'll get our kid ready." I sighed. I walked over and picked up Christopher, and headed towards his room. I sat him on his bed, as he giggled.
"Is Daddy in trouble?" He asked, and I eyed him.
"You are also in trouble, Christopher! I told you to ask Daddy to help you get ready. Now we may be late for your own adoption. So let's get those pajamas off, and get you into your dress clothes."
"No suit!" He yelled, and I sighed.
"Dress pants, button up shirt, and a vest. Bowtie or a tie like Daddy?"
"I don't want to get adopted if it means you make me wear this stuff!"
[*]
After a few small mishaps, Christopher was in his outfit I picked out, but instead of dress shoes, he was wearing his light up shoes. Elliot and I had to run into the courthouse, and Elliot's family, my sister, and the crew were all there. Elliot sat our son down and we grabbed his hands as we walked toward the courtroom.
"You are like a minute shy of being late." Bernie huffed.
"Your son and grandson weren't ready when I got down getting ready. So it's their fault. Now, let's get this going."
[*]
"Now, please sign the papers." The judge spoke. Elliot and I grabbed a pen each, and we scrawled our names on the last adoption form. This made it official. Christopher was officially our kid, and it was amazing.
"Alright, now what is the name of your son?" The judge asked a smile spread over her face. Elliot and I both stood, and I picked Christopher up and placed him on my hip as tears welled in my eyes.
"Christopher Nathaniel Benson-Stabler." Elliot and I said in unison.
"Mommy." Christopher cried as he hugged my neck tightly. Elliot wrapped his arms around us as we all cried.
"It's done. You're officially our kid, baby." Elliot smiled, as he kissed his temple.
