I took Christopher back to the car, and I sat him on the back bumper. He looked up at me, his bright green eyes full of fear and tears.
"Okay, baby. We are going to make a deal, okay?"
"Livvie, I don't wanna be with these people. I wanna be with you and Elliot!" He exclaimed.
"And we want you to be with us too! But Vicky wants you to at least meet these people, okay? These are your Mommy's mother and sister, so they love you."
"But you are my Mommy now." He sniffled, as he wiped at his eyes.
"I know. But until Vicky can decide on who is going to be a better family to you, you have to be a strong little boy. I need you to give these two people a chance, okay?"
"I don't wanna, Livvie!" He cried as he clung to my waist. I rubbed his back as tears welled in my eyes. I didn't want him to give them a chance either, but this is the only way I may be able to get them to lay enough and let us adopt him and give him the life he deserves.
"Babe, we are going inside." Elliot breathed, as he came over to us. I looked at him as tears started to run down my cheeks.
"He doesn't want to, El."
"Chrissy, come on bud. Just a few hours and then we can go home."

Elliot and I sat together on a small loveseat, as Christopher sat and tried his best to be a sweet boy to his newly found grandmother and aunt. I looked around the pristine room and noticed several items that looked like if you touched them, even gently, that they'd break. How did these two women expect to raise a boy, one who would run around and probably run into things and break them?
"So, what do you two do for a living?" Cristine asked as Candice tried to get Christopher interested in a book she handed him.
"We are both detectives. And Candice, I'm sorry, but Christopher can't read books that big yet. He likes this one." I spoke, as I got into the bag I packed and handed her a few Little Critter books. She looked at them, before handing them to Christopher. The small boy's eyes lit up and he grinned.
"You brought them, Livvie!" He squealed, and I smiled softly at him.
"Of course I did, baby," I spoke. I saw Cristine cringe a bit as I called Christopher baby.
"How much time do you spend with him?" Candice asked.
"Most nights we are home early enough to put him to bed and eat dinner with him. But if not, we are there when he wakes up and we eat breakfast together."
"Who is with him at night? Or when you can't be with him?"
"Our babysitter, Hannah. She's out of school and college and has her CPR certification. We trust her." Elliot spoke, as he ran his fingers over my thigh.
"I just don't know why you two even want him, if you haven't even tried to have a baby of your own yet," Cristine spoke, which sent tears back into my eyes.
"We had a plan, ma'am. We were waiting until we were married for five years before trying for a baby. We wanted to be financially secure before being a baby into this world. But then we met Christopher, and we realized we can wait to have a baby because Christopher is the only child we need right now. He's so smart and sweet. He's been through so much, and I was the only one who he wanted right after. He has learned to trust again because of us, and even if you two want him to remember Chloe by, there is so much you need to realize."
"Oh, well then tell us." Candice snapped. Christopher huffed as he stood up and ran to Elliot and climbed onto his lap. He hated fighting because the last time there was a lot of fighting, his father was taken to prison for murdering his mother.
"He's a three-year-old little boy. He is completely different from girls. He may be well mannered, but he eats a lot, and he runs around everywhere. He is destructive, but that's what boys are like. He loves when we go for walks by the river, and when we take him to the park to play on the jungle gym. He likes to wrestle and he can't fall asleep without having his dinosaur nightlight on." I spoke, passionately. We may have only had this little boy for two months, but I knew so much about him. I'm meant to be his mother, and Elliot is meant to be his father.
"He can learn to sit-"
"He can't learn to sit still, because that's not how he is." I breathed, before looking over at Vicky.
"Christopher needs his nap." I breathed, and she nodded.
"I'll be in contact with you both as soon as I make my decision. There will be a hearing in regards to it, so keep an eye out." Vicky spoke.

I let Christopher nap in our bed as soon as we got home. It gave me an excuse to cuddle with him and to try and remember everything about him in case what I said was going to lead to Vicky picking his grandmother and aunt over us.
"How long do you think we'll have to wait?" I whispered as Elliot laid down on his side of the bed. He reached out and pushed a few curls away from Christopher's face, before looking at me.
"A week or so. But that means we have a week or so to spend as much time with this little man as possible." Elliot breathed, and I nodded tearfully.
"I'm scared to lose him. They will change him into a little boy that doesn't have any fun at all. He'll be wearing suits and bowties, instead of t-shirts and jeans. Even if I didn't know Chloe, I think that she'd want her son to be a little boy, not some boy that has to grow up and mature before he's ready."
