"What? Really?" Mary asked, her eyes wide with surprise. I could see that she thought this was all a dream. I had thought the same when we got the okay to adopt her. This was just as amazing of a dream as when we got to adopt Chris and when I held Meredith in my arms for the first time.

"Yeah, really." I breathed. I passed Meredith over to my mother, before pulling Mary into my arms. I held her close as she started to sob. Elliot wrapped his strong arms around our bodies.

"You aren't excited, are you?" Elliot breathed after he placed a gentle kiss to Mary's temple.

"I'm so excited. Can I call you guys Mom and Dad now? Like you won't change your minds or anything? Mere is my sister, and Chris is going to be my brother, and Cy is going to be my aunt?" Mary asked.

"We are your family now, baby. And god is it amazing." I spoke, as tears started to run down my cheeks.

"Thank you so much, Mom and Dad. This is so amazing."

After dinner and cupcakes, Elliot, my mother, and the oldest two kids played Monopoly. I went upstairs and gave Meredith a bath. I was sitting in the rocking chair in her room, rocking her to sleep after reading her a story that she didn't really pay attention to, Mary came into the room.

"Is she not falling asleep yet?" Mary asked, and I shook my head.

"She's really fighting it tonight. I think she's too excited about getting an amazing big sister." I smiled. I leaned down and kissed Meredith's hair, before smiling at Mary again.

"Are you sure that this is what you and Elliot want?"

"It is, honey. When I met Christopher, I fell in love with him like within a few hours. We knew he was meant to be our son. When I met you, I was hoping that would be the last time I'd see you. That nothing bad would happen to you again because you are innocent. But then when I saw you again I knew it was our time. That it was our time to help you as we had done to Chrissy. You came home with me and ever since this has been your home." I smiled.

"It took you longer to fall in love with me?" Mary whispered, and I laughed softly as I held Meredith a bit closer.

"No, honey I loved you from the day we brought you home. I just didn't know it then and you didn't either."

"I'll try my best to be the best daughter. Like I won't be any Meredith, because look at that face, but I'll try."

"I know, honey. But don't worry. Be yourself, because that is why we fell in love with you. Why our kids absolutely adore you."

"Well, if they adore me, let me put Meredith down." Mary smiled. I stood up and she sat in my spot. I laid Meredith in her arms, before going over empty out the wastebasket.

"You are so lucky you were born into this family, Merebear, because look at who our parents are. They are amazing." Mary whispered as she rocked Meredith back and forth. Tears welled in my eyes as I walked out.

This is the perfect family for me.

We got a date set at the very end of the month. But, during that month it wouldn't just be us waiting. Our house ended up full of more people. Cynthia and Gil's apartment building was destroyed in a fire. So, the garage apartment was filled up again. Cynthia was crying all the time because she had been scared during the fire because she didn't wake up right away.

Not only that, but Chris got into a fight at school and the bully broke his nose. So we had to go to his school to talk to the principal and then we had to go to the school board because the bully kept saying Chris asked him to do it. But we were pretty sure our son didn't ask for his nose to be broken.

Meredith started to get more teeth, so many nights Elliot and I were up just trying to calm her enough that she could get more than an hour of sleep at night.

And then weirdly enough, Serena started to date. Like, full on dress to impress, going to dinner and a movie type of dating. It was shocking, but it's like we were meant to have a crazy month before added another child to our family.

"Alright, today is a day to not drop bombs on this family, do you hear me!?" I exclaimed as I put Meredith in her playpen so she could nap before the adoption hearing.

"But what if I wanted to tell you something?" Cynthia asked, as she sat on the couch and stared at me.

"Well save it for tomorrow, Cynthia. Now, please go make sure Mom is awake and starting to get ready. You know, because she's been sleeping for a while after her date."

"She did get in late." Cynthia smiled. She stood up and headed up the stairs. I walked into the kitchen and saw Elliot making sandwiches for Mary and Chris.

"Christopher, is that your dress shirt?" I asked my son, as I saw him reach for his peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

"Yeah?" He questioned as he looked up at me, his green eyes wide.

"Oh, baby. You can't eat your sandwich in your white dress shirt. Turn towards me." I spoke. I unbuttoned his shirt before taking it off. I folded it over my arm, before turning his stool back around. We could always put another white t-shirt on him, but he only had one button up that wasn't covered in paint or food. Just like his father in that way.

I walked over to my husband, and started to clean up the stuff he got out, before hearing Cynthia run down the stairs.

"Mom is awake and showering now. Do you need me to do anything else?" Cynthia asked, and I shook my head.

"Nope. Just be ready to go in two hours." I smiled. I looked at Mary and saw her grinning.

"I'm so ready, Mom."
