"How many more?" Elliot groaned as he laid flat on his back in the middle of a field. We were in the middle of seeing how many sit-ups we could do during our first week of being at the academy.
"El, you decide how many you can do. Just keep going." I smiled, and he flipped me off before trying to do a few more. Once he was completely done, he rolled onto his side and closed his eyes. I smiled again before standing and kicking his feet.
"C'mon. We gotta go report your 100 sit-ups and then go home and practice some more." I smirked, and Elliot moaned as he reached his hands up to me. I helped him to his feet before we walked over to our commanding officer of sorts here. He sent us on our way and as we walked back to the dorms they forced us to stay in, Elliot grabbed my hand and squeezed it.
"How many more weeks?" He sighed, and I laughed a bit. He knew that we had 20 weeks left after this one, and we wouldn't be back into our apartment until May.
"Oh, this isn't that bad. Many girls are kicking your ass, but this isn't that bad. Just imagine what our future is going to be. We get to be cops and kick ass. Then eventually I'll become a detective and you'll still be an officer." I grinned, and he started to fake cry as we continued our walk.
"We can do this, El. We've made it through a liver donation, my crazy family, your crazy family, and one full year of marriage. We can do this with ease."

For the next month, Elliot and I slowly moved into the top ten of the training officers. But we still had about 17 weeks and that could easily change. But after the first month, they gave us the weekend off and we used that to travel back to Manhattan and see our parents.
"No, they haven't kicked me out yet, Louisa." Elliot groaned as we ate dinner with his family at Bernie and Joseph's house.
"Well, I'm surprised they haven't yet. You love to whine and don't usually do what you are told. I'm surprised that Olivia has been able to keep a leash on you long enough to train you semi-properly." Lousia snapped back, a smirk on her face. We all laughed, well all but Elliot. But it was true, he rarely follows rules or directions and for some reason, I can make him follow rules and directions.
"He is actually doing great so far. I'm proud of him." I smiled, as I wrapped my arm around his and leaned close to him. Elliot blushed a bit as I said that, but when I gave him the chance to kiss me, he did it deeply and with great length.
"Stop being nasty." Jason huffed, as he leaned back in his chair. Elliot looked at him for a moment before going back and kissing me again as laughter filled the air once again.

After dinner and helping Bernie, Josephine, and Louisa clean up after dinner, Elliot and myself drove about an hour to eat dessert with my father at the facility. He was standing outside waiting for us, and the nurse tried to make him sit down but he refused when he saw our truck pulling up.
"I'm not sitting down. I've been walking around for several months and I won't sit the fuck down." He huffed, as Elliot and I walked towards him. I smiled as the nurse stood back and sighed.
"Dad, treat her well. She gives you your medicine and if she wants to, she could kill you." I warned, and he grinned as I got close enough to hug him.
"I could careless. I'm just glad that you are here. God, you are going to be an officer!" He exclaimed, and I smiled as I placed a soft kiss to his unshaven cheek.
"Yeah, and Elliot and I are doing great. Top ten." I smirked, and his eyes lit up even more. He was so proud of the both of us. If he couldn't be a cop anymore, he was happy enough seeing Elliot and I working towards being cops.
"Well, congrats." He smiled, before reaching out and shaking Elliot's hand.

We went inside and sat in the small room that was his. He had a bed, a chair, a kitchenette, and a connecting bathroom. It was very similar to what older people in assisted living have, but technically he was getting help just like they were.
"This is nice. I like the quilt you stole." I smirked, as I sat on the edge of the bed while we waited for Elliot to get out of the bathroom.
"Hey, it may have been on your bed, but it was mine to start with." He smiled as he sat in his recliner. As I watched my dad put glasses on and fiddle with the remote, I could see that he looked older and was acting older than he really was. I'm 22, and when they adopted me I was only seven. He was 45 when they adopted me, my mother only 39, but now he is 60 which isn't even that old for a man who got a premade child.
"Dad, when do you want to go home?" I questioned, as I picked up one of the throw pillows that was on our couch at home, but he had sold our house and either the stuff was in storage or here with him.
"I don't have a home anymore, Livvie." He replied, and I frowned.
"Are you gonna stay here forever?" I asked, and he dropped his glasses down to the tip of his nose as he looked at me.
"I don't know. I feel like living here forever would be better than living in a house without your mother forever."

As Elliot drove us back to the academy dorms so we could work out the next morning, I got caught up in my thoughts and my husband noticed.
"What's bothering you?" He asked, and I sighed.
"I truly realized how old my father really is tonight. And he doesn't want to come home anymore."
"Well, where would his home be anyway?" Elliot asked, and I frowned.
"When we get back home after we graduate, I want to ask him to move in. He can take our room and we could just get a pullout couch or something. Or we could even look into an apartment near us where we could still look after him. Or-"
"Or we could let him make this choice. Liv, he isn't some crazy old man, he is still your father and is rather stubborn if you forgot. Just let him decide, and if he wants to live there we will visit him every weekend. And when we have kids, they will run around in a courtyard there, instead of in a large backyard, okay?"
"Okay," I whispered, but I wasn't going to give up that easily.
