In The Dark

Selene was sitting alone, in the dark, listening to the sound of the radio as Travis was cleaning up in the kitchen. She hadn't opened her eyes in day, it had hurt too much when she'd tried. Everyone had been so nice and accomodating about it- and yet inside she felt so distant, so separated; filled with loss and sadness, and burning, boiling anger. They kept saying it would get better, but she didn't want it to, not in the way they meant; she didn't want to get used to it, it wasn't her fault, it wasn't fair to expect her to just have to deal with this. No matter what nice words they had to say, how much they were willing to help and how much they loved her, they just didn't understand.

Suddenly, the droning of the radio host babbling about celebrities and scandal was cut off with a click, making her jump. Someone else was in the room, she could sense them moving about, unseen.

"What did she do to you?" A familiar voice said in front of her. A familiar hand reached out and took her own, guiding her up from the chair. "Come with me. Let's see what we can do."
