Y/N's POV, May 19th 2002

It was the day Deana was coming over and I was dreading seeing her again. Nikki was on edge too, but he seemed strangely excited.

When he rang and spoke to her he said the call went pretty well, she was surprised to hear from him but didn't actually say anything nasty or condescending towards him which he took as a positive sign.

Though I did tell him it could just be her way of guaranteeing herself a ticket back into our lives, if she'd have been rude then she knew Nikki would have never have asked her. She wasn't stupid, she was manipulative and I couldn't let Nikki forget that and get too optimistic.

We'd arranged the meeting for today which was the weekend proposed when Nikki initially suggested the idea, Blaze was here having moved his scheduled stay with Vince to next weekend instead.

We'd told the kids that Nikki's mom was coming over and none of them were particularly thrilled about meeting their other grandma for the first time. They didn't know exactly how much shit Deana put Nikki through as they were children but Blaze had asked why they'd never met their other grandparents and we had to tell them something, as all three kids were around when Blaze asked and were all curious.

We told them that Nikki's dad left him and his mom alone which was true and that Nikki's mom wasn't nice to Nikki, and hurt him and let other people hurt him, and Nikki tried to make it as child friendly as he could but needless to say, by the end they didn't like Deana and were glad that they'd never met her.

So, meeting her today wasn't a happy occasion for them. Blaze even said that he'd rather have gone to Vince's and I honestly couldn't blame him for wanting that but Deana needed to meet the kids, even if it was just once.

Everyone was downstairs right now, me, Nikki and all three of the kids and the time we'd set for Deana be here by was fast approaching, Nikki was apprehensive, I saw through the calm facade he was fronting and saw the nerves behind.

"Calm down... whether this goes well or crashes and burns, nothing is going to change. No matter what, you're going to be okay."

"Yeah... I guess." He said, biting his thumb nail out of anxious habit.

"Don't get so worked up." I tell him, taking his hand away from his mouth and kissing his wedding ring "It's gonna be okay. I'm here and I'm always here."

"Don't leave me alone with her... and don't leave the kids alone with her either... I want too but I still don't trust her."

"I won't... I swear. I'll be with you, hun, that's a promise." I assured him, taking the hand I was already holding into both my hands, kissing it once again, this time on his knuckles.

Nik relaxed a little and when I started to trace patterns into the palm of his hand he relaxed even more, even closed his eyes and leant into me, enjoying the simple action a lot, it was something which had always calmed him down.

Luckily, Nikki remained calmed and lost in my tactics right until there was a loud knock at the door which got everyone's attention, Nikki's eyes flew open and he lifted his head up from where it had ended up on the back of the couch, he looked at me and I looked back at him and before either of us could say anything, Blaze got up and started to walk past me and Nikki to get to the door, as he passes me I reach out and grab his arm, stopping him from walking "Woah, where do you think you're going, Mr?" I enquired.
