Y/N's POV, December 31st 2005

Leaving Vince's place was a nerve racking moment, I didn't want to leave but on the other hand I knew I wanted and had too. Facing Nikki was going to be awkward, I'd established that and I was dreading talking to him, but unfortunately I was about too.

It was just past seven in the evening, and it was that late because it seemed easier to stay with Vin until we'd had dinner before heading home, it saved the work when we got there and saved me the extra interaction with Nikki, we'd finished eating at Vince's an hour ago now and that then it was time to get our stuff together and for Vince to was drop us back home.

That lead us to right now, we'd just been dropped off and just before he left Vin wished me luck and wanted me to call him later so I can tell him what's happening and I said I would before he drove away and I was left with the kids infront of Nikki and I's house.

I sighed and looked at my children "Come on, you three."

Zeta and Nico started walking first and then me, then Blaze very reluctantly. We got up to the front door and before I got my keys out I checked the door and it was unlocked so I opened it and within seconds Nikki had appeared much to the delight of the younger two children who threw themselves onto the bassist yelling "Dad!"

Nikki laughed, placing an arm around either of them "Hey, you two look happy to see me."

"We missed you!" Nico says enthusiastically.

"I missed you guys too. How was staying with Uncle Vince? You still think it was awesome?"

"Yeah, it was still awesome."

"I'm glad you guys enjoyed yourselves." The man smiled, then looked at Blaze "Bud? You gonna say hi?" Nikki offered, gesturing for Blaze to join the hug with the other two kids but Blaze didn't want to get involved.

Instead he rolled his eyes and just ran upstairs with his bag of clothes, then heard his bedroom door slam a couple of seconds later. I move my eyes to my husband and saw Nikki's face fall a little but he soon masked that and focused back on Nico and Zeta.

"Why don't you two go upstairs and put your stuff away then come back down and we can watch some TV, hmm?"

The two liked that proposition and soon went upstairs to do as they'd been instructed and this left myself and Nikki, we stood in a very uncomfortable silence before Nik went to finally speak, but before he could I walked over to the couch and sat down on it, grabbing the TV remote and turning the volume up a couple of bars, not sure I was ready for a conversation but Nikki clearly just wanted me to say something and that became clear when he sat next to me.

He just wanted to know where exactly we stood, whether I was willing to talk to him about anything before we faced the important problems at a later date.

"Can we talk? Just about anything... please."

"If you want." I replied.

I saw Nikki nod slowly out of the corner of my eye and mess with his hands in his lap as a way to calm anxiety "Have you been okay?"

"I've been fine... I've been thinking about a lot of things and I hope you have been too."

"It's all I've been able to do... we're not going to talk about it now, neither of us want that today but know that everything without you is pointless to me."
