Y/N's POV, September 7th 2002
Nikki's new band were making their way over to the house today, they were discussing ideas, pooling the ideas they did have together and actually deciding on a musical direction for their album so they can start working on it.
It was a Saturday so the kids were here and it was early in the afternoon, Tracii and the others were due here any minute and Nikki and I were sat waiting for them, while Zarina was sat on the floor drawing and Nico was next to her but watching the TV, Blaze was sat by the window overlooking the driveway and would alert us when a car pulled up.
"Why are you guys taking so long to figure out a musical direction? Surely, it's not that complicated." I questioned genuinely curious because it's been well over a year now since Nikki had initially spoken to Tracii about this side project and they still hadn't decided in a musical direction for an album.
"It's not usually but because we all like different branches of rock we have to decide what works best for all of us. I don't know Kris, London and Andy as well as I know John and Tracii... we can't do something if one or more of us isn't not going to like the music we're making, what would be the point?"
I hum then add "What do you want this band to be? It feels weird asking that to you... reminds me of when we were looking for people for Mötley Crüe, or X-Mass if it were left to you."
Nikki smiled and rolled his eyes, clicking his tongue "I still like that name for the record and yeah, it's weird doing this again but it's fun too. I'm not sure what I want but I wouldn't mind taking a deeper dive into more of the alternative rock scene, that's what I've tried to orientate some of my basslines and stuff around."
"It all looks like numbers, letters and scribbles on paper to me."
"I need to teach you to understand music writing, it's not hard when you know what you're actually playing."
"I guess, I could maybe write a piano piece because I played it but I never played any guitars though."
"It wouldn't be that much different once you had the basics of what the fuck you're doing. Remind me on a day we're not doing anything and I'll teach you."
"It's not going to help me in day to day life."
"No, but it's something to do together, isn't it? Because we don't really do that much together anymore, and before you say it, living together isn't the same thing as doing things together."
"If you do teach me, please don't make me feel stupid."
"I'd never purposely make you feel stupid." Nikki promises "Besides, you're one of the smartest people I know."
I smiled at the bassist, kissing him softly on the lips when I did this though the already short moment was cut even shorter "Dad your friends are here!" Blaze called out from where he was sat on the windowsill "Want me to get the door?"
"No, bud. I'll get it, you come and sit with your brother and sister." Nikki told the boy, nodding with his head for Blaze to move who did without a fuss, Nik then got up and glanced at me gesturing for me to get up too "Babe."
I stand up and walk over to Nikki to the door, where he unlocked it and pulled it open, putting an arm around my waist as he watched the rest of the 'Brides of Destruction' walk up the stairs to our front door, Tracii was the first in line and he looked at me straight away.
