Niall and Kristyn Horan were happily married, and they knew each other like the back of their hand. Kristyn knew all of Niall's little quirks, the way he moved and made gestures, and his fears. Unfortunately for Niall, one of his biggest fears was the dentist, and he was due for an appointment. "Niall, come on," Kristyn said to him, because he was dragging his feet, and they were going to be late. "Coming," he said as he walked down the stairs slowly. "You look happy," Kristyn laughed sarcastically. "Mhm," Niall said giving her a look. "It's going to be alright," Kristyn said with a small laugh. Niall wasn't happy about going at all, but he followed her out to the car regardless.
A short drive later, Niall and Kristyn pulled into the parking lot of the office. Just looking at the big brick building was enough to make Niall squirm. "Let's go," Kristyn said as she got out of the passenger's side, and Niall was still sitting firmly in the driver's seat. "Sorry, zoned out," Niall said getting out of the car, and locking the doors. "You're alright, babe," Kristyn said kissing Niall on the nose, and walking into the office. Niall could feel his heartrate go up when they walked into the waiting room, and he immediately started shaking. "Is it too late to cancel?" Niall whispered to Kristyn as she grabbed his paperwork to sign him in. "Yes," she said with a light laugh. "I promise everything will be alright," she said after getting him signed in, and then sat down as they waited. Niall could feel the breath hitching in his throat as the nervous feeling grew more intense. "Relax, baby," Kristyn said after she noticed his panic, and held his hand.
It wasn't but a short while later, and Niall was being called back and led down a hall to the office room he would be getting examined in. Niall rocked his feet back and forth as he sat in the chair, and they waited for Dr. Todd to come in. Kristyn laid a hand on his leg, and smiled at him reassuringly. Before anything else could be said, Dr. Todd came walking in. "Hey guys!" Dr. Todd greeted as he sat Niall's file down on the counter. "Hey!" Kristyn and Niall welcomed back. "So, I looked at your x-rays, and it looks like you are going to need two root canals and four teeth pulled," Dr. Todd said with a frown. Niall's nerves on top of the news was too much for him to take, and Niall immediately busted into tears. "It's alright, baby!" Kristyn said moving over closer to Niall. "Shh, calm down. You're alright. Take a breath for me," Kristyn said running a hand through Niall's hair as she tried to comfort him. "I'm right here," Kristyn said as she grabbed his hand, and tried to calm him down a little bit longer. Niall still had tears running down his face, and would have the occasional hiccup from trying to catch his breath, but he calmed down enough where Dr. Todd could talk to him. "I'm going to put you on some laughing gas, bud. It'll help relax you," Dr. Todd said getting the idea, and grabbing the oxygen nub to stick over Niall's nose. Dr. Todd turned it up as high as it would go, and then he set everything up while giving Niall a minute to calm down as he breathed in the oxygen. "Just keep breathing, Niall," he said as he turned the overhead light on, and put some gloves on. "Okay, I'm just going to numb you real quick," Dr. Todd said, and Niall began to panic all over again. "Niall, focus on me," Kristyn said as Niall started crying again. Dr. Todd grabbed the needle, and Kristyn got Niall's attention. "Close your eyes, baby. Don't look at the needle, just focus on my voice," Kristyn said and Niall trusted her. Niall continued to cry while Dr. Todd put the needles in. "You're doing great, Ni. Breathe, babe," she said to him as she rubbed a thumb over his hand. Finally, all of the needles were administered, and Niall was starting to simmer down.
Dr. Todd worked quickly to get all of the procedures done, but it was plenty of time for Niall to become high as a kite off the laughing gas. "Alright, Niall! You're all done! I'm just going to run a few papers about how to care for everything off for you on the printer, and then he will be free to go," Dr. Todd said sitting the chair up, and rolling his chair over to the computer in the room to print everything. Kristyn noticed that Niall had a funny look on his face. "You good, babe?" Kristyn asked with a laugh knowing Niall wasn't in his right mind from the gas. "I'm on cloud nine!" he said feeling good, and Kristyn laughed. Kristyn pulled her phone out to video as Niall said a bunch of random funny things. Kristyn continued to video him, and Dr. Todd and her were dying laughing at the crazy things Niall was saying and doing. "Alright, here are those papers," Dr. Todd smiled as he handed the care instructions to Kristyn. "Let me know if you need anything or have any questions," he said as they all stood up. "Thank you!" she said as she took Niall by the arm to help him stand. "Come on, loopy," she laughed as she pulled him up, and taking him out to the car. "You know, you are very pretty," Niall smiled a big grin at Kristyn as she helped him in the car. "Thank you, Niall," she smiled as she fastened his seatbelt, and walked around to the driver's seat. "You're really really pretty! Maybe we could go on a date," Niall giggled as he "flirted" with his wife. "Maybe," Kristyn laughed at his goofiness. Niall continued to "flirt" all the way back to their house, and Kristyn just went along with it as she laughed at him.
They arrived back at their house shortly after, and Kristyn helped get Niall into the house. "Lay on the couch, silly boy," Kristyn said as she made him lay down while he was wobbling over to the couch. "Kristynnnn," he whined at her as she went to walk away to get some stuff done. "Yes, babe?" she grinned at him. "I love you," he said as he leaned up for a hug, and she hugged him back, covering him up before she went back to what she was going to do. About an hour later, Niall woke up and he was already in some pretty serious pain. "Here you are, babe," Kristyn said resurfacing as she brought him some pain medicine and a glass of water. "Thank you, babe," Niall said sitting up and happily downing the medicine to get some relief. "I don't remember anything, the last thing I remember is getting the shot," Niall said as he sat the glass on the coffee table. "You were totally out of it," Kristyn said back at him. "I was?" Niall asked and Kristyn nodded. She went and sat beside him on the couch, and opened her photos. She showed him all the videos of the crazy and funny things he had said and done, and Niall's face turned beet red. "Oh my gosh!" Niall said as they watched the last video. "I can't believe I did all of that. That is so embarrassing," Niall said as Kristyn sat her phone down beside her. "I thought it was cute," Kristyn smiled at her embarrased husband. "Well, I'm glad you got a laugh out of it," Niall smiled and he pulled her close to him as he laid back down on the couch and they cuddled the rest of the night.
