Kristyn and Niall were engaged, and she had grown accustomed to not everyone liking that. More in particular, one girl that Kristyn went to school with. This girl had given Kristyn a hard time for as long as their relationship was public, because she was a Niall fanatic and was in love with him, and was extremely jealous that Niall chose Kristyn. Among all of the awful bullies that bothered Kristyn at school, she was definitely the worst. Kristyn was finishing up her senior year of high school, so she tried to ignore it, but it was really hard. One day at school, Kristyn was minding her own business during class change as she swapped her books out at her locker, and Kristyn caught a glimpse of the bully coming directly at her. Kristyn braced herself for her to run into her, and make her books fall, but it was much worse than she would've ever figured. As the girl walked up, Kristyn turned to try and avoid her bump, but that's when she pulled her arm back, and punched Kristyn right in the mouth. All of a sudden, Kristyn fell to the ground, and everything went black.
Kristyn blinked a few times as her eyes adjusted to the bright lights in the room she was laid down in. She reached her hand up to her face as she was hit by a wave of pain. "Oh, good! You're awake!" the school nurse said as she saw Kristyn open her eyes. "Can you tell me your name, dear?" she asked to make sure Kristyn was okay. "Kristyn," Kristyn said her name as she rubbed her sore jaw. "And can you tell me what you remember last?" she questioned. "I think I got hit," Kristyn said sitting herself up a little when she finally got used to the lights. "Correct! Good, no memory loss. "Now, I have called your parents several times, but I can't get ahold of them. Is there someone else I can call to come pick you up?" the nurse smiled as she handed Kristyn an ice pack for the pain. "You can call Niall," Kristyn said thinking about the next best person to come get her. "Okay! And, what's his relationship to you?" the nurse said picking up the phone from the hook. "My fiancé," Kristyn said getting her bearings back as she stood. "Okay!" the nurse said as she got the number from Kristyn's file. "Hi! Is this Niall Horan?" the nurse asked. "It is," he replied confused as to who was calling. "Okay! I'm the school nurse at your fiancé, Kristyn's school. She was involved in a little dust up when another student hit her in the face. I was just calling to see if you could come pick her up from school, we cannot get ahold of her parents," the nurse said to Niall and his jaw dropped. "I'll be right there!" he said grabbing the first pair of shoes available and running out the door to Kristyn's school.
Ten minutes later, Niall came rushing into the school, and was directed into the nurse's office by one of the office ladies. "Kristyn," he sighed relieved as he rushed in, and grabbed Kristyn into a huge hug. "She punched you in the mouth? Are you okay? Open up and let me see," Niall said all at once, and Kristyn did as he said. "Oh my goodness, baby! Your braces are coming off, we need to get to Dr. Todd," Niall said even more worried to which Kristyn simply nodded. Niall walked Kristyn to the car, and had a hand wrapped around her the whole time. He opened the door for her, and even made sure she was strapped in before he headed to the driver's side of the car. "Hey, this is Niall Horan. I am calling for my fiancé, Kristyn. She had an incident, and her braces are starting to fall off," Niall said as he called Dr. Todd's office. "Okay, thank you!" he said a few seconds later. "They said they could take you in right away...this has gone on long enough, baby," Niall said grabbing Kristyn's hand, and rubbing it with his thumb as he drove quickly to the office, and feeling terrible for all the things Kristyn had to deal with.
A few minutes later, Niall pulled into the parking lot, and they rushed into the building. "Hey guys! Just sign right here really quickly, and we will have you taken straight back," a friendly receptionist said as she handed them the paperwork she had already run off. "Alright, go on back," she smiled as a dentist assistant met them at the door. "Right this way," she smiled as she led them to the first room down the hall. "Dr. Todd will be in in just a second!" she said as she walked away, and Kristyn situated herself in the chair. Niall sat right next to her, and Dr. Todd walked in right after. "Hey! So, I heard your braces are falling off?" Dr. Todd asked concerned as he sat down on his stool. "Yes sir," she said. "Mind if I take a look?" Dr. Todd said and Kristyn opened her mouth. The damage was very evident, and Dr. Todd looked at her even more concerned. "What happened?" Dr. Todd asked worriedly. "A bully punched me in the mouth," Kristyn explained sadly as he leaned her back. "Oh my! I am so sorry! I'll get this fixed right up," Dr. Todd said and he got started on repairing the damage done. "Okay, Kristyn. Everything is back on, I'm just going to go ahead and tighten your braces since you are due for a tightening as well," Dr. Todd said and she nodded. Niall watched and thought about how badly he felt for Kristyn. He loved her so much, and hated the idea of anyone laying a hand on her. "Alright, Kristyn! You're all good to go! I'm so sorry that this happened," Dr. Todd sympathized as he leaned her up. "Thanks," she said looking down at her hands, clearly upset from everything that had happened. "Niall, since you are due for a tightening next week, why don't you hop on over here, and we will go ahead and do it so you don't have to come back in a week?" Dr. Todd offered and Niall took him up on the offer as he got into the chair Kristyn was just in. Niall and Kristyn had both gotten clear braces together, and typically enjoyed going to the appointments together, but it wasn't so fun this time considering the circumstances. Dr. Todd gave Niall a quick tightening, and then sat him up. "Okay, you two. You are good to go!" Dr. Todd said waving them off. "Okay! Thanks doc!" Niall said taking Kristyn's hand, and walking back out to his car to drive back to Kristyn's parent's house.
Niall and Kristyn walked in, and she had been silent the whole ride home. Niall knew she had a bunch on her mind, and he felt awful for her. As they walked in, Kristyn reached in the cabinet to get some ibuprofen for her pounding headache and sore jaw. She was still very much shaken up by the incident, and matters didn't get any better when her phone started going off. "Ugh," she huffed as she ran over to her backpack to get it. She looked at the caller ID, and it showed her principal's name. "Hello?" Kristyn said into the phone. "Hey Kristyn! I was calling to see how you were doing?" her principal asked and Kristyn sighed. "I'm alright. I just got back from the orthodontist, they had to put my braces back on where she punched me. I feel a little better now that they are back in place, but my jaw and face are still sore," Kristyn told as she fiddled to get the medicine bottle open, and Niall took if from her gently to offer her a helping hand. Kristyn then took her phone from where it was resting between her shoulder and her ear, and held it with her hand after mouthing a "thank you," to Niall. "I hate that! I am truly so sorry about that, Kristyn! We have a no tolerance policy for bullying at the school, and I want you to know we have expelled her for the rest of the school year," her principal said, and Kristyn sighed a breath of relief that she wouldn't have to put up with anymore of her antics. "I also want you to take a few days off of school to heal!" her principal insisted. "Thank you so much!" Kristyn said downing the medicine hoping it would provide her some relief. "Please don't thank me! It's the least I can do! Take care!" her principal said. "You too!" Kristyn replied and sat her phone on the counter. "Well?" Niall asked with a smile. "It was my principal. The girl was expelled for the rest of the year, and she is giving me a few days off to heal," Kristyn said. "That's great!" Niall said giving her a hug, and a careful kiss on the cheek. "Let's go lay down," Niall suggested and Kristyn agreed as Niall led her up to her bedroom. Niall and Kristyn cuddled in close together, and he held her super tight. Niall hated the idea of Kristyn being home alone, since her parents were out of town, and Kristyn had mentioned she didn't want to sleep alone. "Do you mind if I stay the night?" Niall asked and Kristyn looked up at him. "I'd love for you to spend the night," she said before she fell into a sleep.
In the middle of the night, Niall felt Kristyn tossing and turning under his grip. All of a sudden, Kristyn shot up out of breath as tears ran down her face. She could feel herself sweating in fear, and Niall quickly sat up with her. "Hey, it's okay," he whispered as he pulled her into a hug. "It's alright, I'm right here. I've got you. She won't do it again," Niall comforted already knowing what Kristyn's nightmare was about. Niall coaxed Kristyn out of her nerves after several minutes, and he felt her start to calm under his hug. "It's okay. You can relax," he said as he laid back down with her, and she wiped the few tears that were still streaming down her face. The rest of the night, Niall held Kristyn close, and rubbed her back until he felt her fall back to sleep.
A couple of days later, Kristyn's parents returned home from their trip. "Kristyn, we are so sorry that we weren't home to come get you from school! We absolutely hate what happened!" Kristyn's parents said as soon as they saw her. "It's okay! Niall came and got me, and it all worked out," she smiled as they hugged her. Kristyn was still feeling quite sore from everything, and her and Niall went back up to her bedroom after her parents got settled back in. Niall came up a few minutes after her, and brought her dinner to her. "Thanks, babe!" she said seeing he had brought her Ravioli. "Absolutely, babe!" he said handing her the bowl. After they had finished eating, they settled down in the bed, and started watching Taylor's Reputation Movie on Netflix, and they cuddled into each other. It didn't take long for Kristyn to fall asleep in Niall's arms, feeling safe and sound from everything.
