Niall and Kristyn Horan were happily married, and they decided after a while that they were ready to start a family. Now, they were a day out from Kristyn's due date, and Kristyn was in labor. "Are you okay, babe?" Niall asked as Kristyn seemed to be distracted. "I think I'm in labor," Kristyn said and Niall hopped off the couch. "Do you need to go to the hospital?" Niall asked getting concerned. "I think so, yeah," Kristyn said as she tried to get her mind wrapped around what was going on. "Okay, just sit still, I'll get everything," Niall said grabbing her shoes from in front of the front door, and then grabbing the hospital bags they had packed weeks ago. "Thank you, babe," Kristyn said as he helped her slide her shoes on. "No problem!" he said helping her stand up, and then walking her to the car quickly.
Niall and Kristyn drove to the hospital quickly, and Niall ran in to tell the receptionist at the desk what was going on. "Ma'am, my wife is in labor," he said running up to the lady, and she nodded. "Okay, sir. It's alright, we will have a wheelchair straight out," the lady said having him sign a few papers, and then they were taken back to a room. As they got her situated in the bed, Kristyn began having some really intense contractions. "Ouch!" she said as another one came. "What's going on, babe?" Niall asked coming over to sit beside the bed. "Contraction," she said through gritted teeth, and Niall grabbed her hand. "You've got it. Breathe nice and deep," Niall said taking deep breaths with her. "I can't do this!" Kristyn said several times as another contraction hit her. "You can do this, babe! Keep breathing, you're doing so good!" Niall encouraged as he ran a hand through her hair. He continued to keep her calm and help her through everything, and they finally reached midnight on her due date. "Are you ready for an epidural?" the nurse said coming in to check on Kristyn. "I am," Kristyn said thrilled that she was finally going to get some relief from the pain. "Okay! Let's sit you up, and then we will do it," she smiled and Niall was quick to help sit her up, and hold her hands as the nurse administered the uncomfortable shot. "Great! You should start to have relief now," she said and Kristyn nodded as she felt the pain starting to ease a bit. "Okay, I'll have the doctor in shortly to check how dilated you are," she smiled before exiting the room, and letting Kristyn and Niall have some rest before it was time. Kristyn laid on her side as Niall rested his head on the bed, and kept one hand locked in hers, and the other one was rubbing circles on her arm. "I love you," Kristyn said as they laid there trying to get a little rest. "I love you too, babe!" Niall said as he looked up.
Within the hour, Kristyn could feel their baby starting to shift, and she knew it was getting close to time to push. "How are we doing?" the nurse said knocking on the door before entering. "I think we are getting close to time," Kristyn told her and the nurse smiled. "Okay! I'll go grab your doctor to check you," she said and walked out to find the doctor. A few seconds later, she resurfaced. "Okay, so unfortunately, your doctor isn't here; however, your brother, Dr. Payne, is here, so he will have to deliver the baby," she smiled. Niall and Kristyn's family dynamic was really cool; Liam was Kristyn's brother, and was Niall's bandmate, and friend of course, and was also a doctor on the side when they weren't touring. "I'm not so sure. It's kinda uncomfortable having my brother doing it," Kristyn said getting fidgety at the idea of her brother looking in that area. "I'm sorry, ma'am, but he needs to deliver the baby properly," the nurse explained completely understanding Kristyn's discomfort. "She's right, babe. We need to do this correctly, plus, he's your brother, so it won't be so bad. He won't mind, he will just be glad to help his sister!" Niall said trying to help persuade her, and Kristyn finally nodded in agreement. "Great! I'll go get him!" the nurse said running out of the room.
"Hey sis! Hey Niall!" Liam said as he walked in and slid some fresh gloves on. "Hey!" they said as Liam walked over to check Kristyn. Niall helped Kristyn put her legs in the stirrups, and Liam checked her. "You are ready to push, Kristyn," he smiled and Kristyn looked at Niall. Niall grabbed Kristyn's hand, and they made her as comfortable as possible. "Okay, Kristyn. Start pushing," Liam said as he got in position to help the baby out, and Kristyn pushed as hard as she possibly could. "You're doing great, Kristyn! Keep pushing as hard as you can," Liam told her, and Kristyn did as she was told. Niall stayed right beside her the whole time, holding her hand and giving her encouraging words. After about an hour, they heard cries and Kristyn laid her head back on the pillow exhausted. "Your baby girl is here!" Liam said as he laid her on Kristyn's stomach. "Oh my gosh! She's beautiful!" Kristyn said as she caught glimpse of her beautiful daughter. "She absolutely is gorgeous!" Niall said as he saw her, and they both started crying. "I'm going to pull the placenta out," Liam told her as they held their new baby. "She's perfect!" Niall said as the two of them continued to cry out of pure happiness, and they were completely in love with their baby girl. "Niall, you can cut the cord now," Liam said and Niall was quick to hop into action and do it. "Great! We will take and clean her off and get all her information now," Liam said as the nurse came over and took their baby. "Congrats you two!" Liam said as he grabbed Kristyn's hand lightly before he followed the nurse over to watch them get the baby situated.
A few short minutes later, they were reunited with their baby. "She's 6lbs and 9 oz, which is perfect for her birthday," the nurse said as she handed the baby back over to Niall. They all laughed at how perfect it was, since she was born on June 9th. "And, what's the name?" the nurse asked writing everything down on the birth certificate. "Kaylyn Rose," Kristyn smiled as she looked at her little girl. "What a beautiful name!" the nurse said as they got all the information settled. "Thank you! It fits her," Niall smiled at the baby, and looked at how absolutely beautiful she was. "It most certainly does! I'll give you three some space!" she said as she got all of the paper work gathered, and she walked out of the room. "She most certainly loves her daddy," Kristyn smiled as she noticed how Kaylyn has cuddled closely to Niall's chest. "I love her too!" Niall replied and Kristyn scoot over and patted the bed, and Niall knew that was his cue to join her in the hospital bed. He wrapped his arms around her and after handing her the baby, and they cuddled together. They heard a knock on the door a little later, and Liam came walking in quietly. "Look how precious," he said as he walked over to the bed. "Thank you!" Kristyn said back as she looked at him with a smile. "How are you doing?" Liam asked checking on her. "I'm doing great!" Kristyn said as she handed the baby over for Liam to hold. "Great!" he said taking her gently and bouncing her back and forth as he took in how amazing his new niece was. "If you are feeling well enough, you can go home today," Liam said as he rocked his niece a little as she opened her eyes. "Thank you, Liam," Kristyn said as he handed the baby back to her, and kissed her on the cheek. "Anything for you, sis!" he said leaving them alone to rest.
Later that day, Kristyn was feeling great so they were able to bring Kaylyn home. "She's finally down," Kristyn smiled as she walked down the stairs with the baby monitor after she had laid Kaylyn down for a nap after they had gotten settled back in. "Happy Birthday, babe!" Niall said as he kissed her, and she kissed him back lovingly. "Thank you, babe!" Kristyn said as she looked at the dinner Niall had cooked and the cake he had laid out while she was busy putting the baby down. "This looks amazing!" she said as they sat down at the table. "It's not much, just a little something to celebrate," Niall smiled as they started eating. "Well, that was delicious. You did great!" Kristyn said as they finished up dinner and desert. "Thank you! Happy Birthday again, babe!" Niall said getting up and kissing Kristyn as she stood to help him clean up. "Thank you, Ni," she smiled as he continued to kiss her, and then they got the kitchen cleaned up. "I'm exhausted," she said as she dried her hands on the kitchen rag. "I am too! Bedtime?" Niall asked her with a grin, and she nodded more than happy to lay down. "Okay!" Niall said and they went up to their bedroom. The two of them cuddled close after they had checked on Kaylyn who was in her bassinet beside their bed. "I love you both so much! Happy birthday to my girls!" Niall said as he pulled Kristyn as close as possible and to an already asleep Kaylyn. "I love you so much too!" Kristyn replied kissing his nose, and with that they fell asleep happily as a family of three.
