Niall and Kristyn Horan were happily married with six-year-old twins Kaylyn and Irelyn, and they also lived with Liam Payne, Kristyn's twin and Niall's bandmate, best friend, and of course, brother-in-law. The boys were in the band One Direction, and Kristyn was a successful dentist who owned her own practice. Kaylyn and Irelyn had been asking for siblings for quite some time, and Niall and Kristyn had been trying, but Kristyn just couldn't seem to get pregnant. One day, Kristyn was at work and sitting in her office when she started not to feel so well. She winced in pain as she had some cramps in her abdomen, and she rubbed her hand over her stomach thinking it was strange. She tried to shake it off as she clicked through files on her computer, but it started getting worse as she sat there. Kristyn looked at her schedule and no one else had an appointment scheduled, so at that point it would've just been walk-ins. She sat for a second and pondered, and then she decided to go ahead and close her office early, since nobody else was scheduled. "Hey girls, I'm not feeling too great. I'm going to go ahead and close the office, because we don't have any appointments left, so you guys can all go home," she said to her assistants and hygienists that were sat around talking. "Okay! Feel better, Kristyn!" they said as they left, and Kristyn shut everything down and left herself.
When Kristyn got home, she saw Niall playing in the floor with Kaylyn and Irelyn. Niall could hear the door open and shut and leaned over to see who was coming in the door, since Liam was already home. "Hey babe! Why are you home so soon?" Niall asked confused while she was home as he looked at the clock on the wall. "I'm not feeling well," Kristyn said as she took her shoes off. "Awe, babe! What's wrong?" he asked getting concerned. "I'm cramping in my lower stomach," Kristyn said, and Niall's eyes went wide thinking it could be like last time. The last time they were trying for kids and she had unexplainable stomach pain, she wound up going into labor with twins, and they never even knew she was pregnant. Kristyn knew exactly what he was thinking, and she shook her head no at him. "Okay, babe. You lay down and rest," Niall said getting the twins to gather their toys. "Let's go upstairs so mommy can rest, girls," Niall said, and he walked over and kissed her on the cheek. Niall took the girls out of the room, and Kristyn laid down on the couch.
Kristyn fell into a restless sleep on the couch, and a few hours later woke up to even worse cramps. "Niall!" Kristyn called up the stairs, and Niall came running into the room. "What's the matter? Are you okay?" he asked slightly panicked. "The cramps are worse," Kristyn said through gritted teeth. "Babe, you have to go to the hospital!" Niall said running over to try and help her. Kristyn was in so much pain that she didn't argue with him. "Okay," she said as best she could through the pain. "Li, can you come downstairs?" Niall called, and Liam came trodding down the stairs. "What's going on?!" he said seeing Kristyn in so much pain. "Kristyn is having really bad cramps, I'm going to take her to the hospital. Will you watch the girls?" Niall asked as they helped Kristyn sit up. "Yes, of course!" Liam said. They helped Kristyn get her shoes back on, and then they got her out to the car as quickly as possible.
Niall was driving as fast as legally possible to the hospital, and he was holding Kristyn's hand as he drove. At this point, Kristyn had tears running down her face, and she was in unbearable pain. "I'm so sorry, babe. We are almost there!" Niall kept saying as he would kiss her hand and try and help her breathe through the pain. Niall pulled in the hospital, and quickly helped a screaming and crying Kristyn into the emergency room. "Ma'am, we need help. My wife is having really bad stomach cramps," Niall said to the lady at the desk, and she quickly waved down a nurse with a wheelchair. "Okay, sir. What's the name?" she asked quickly typing the information in. "Kristyn Horan," he said as he helped Kristyn sit in the wheelchair. "Okay, here's her wristband," she smiled trying to calm him down, and Niall quickly put in on Kristyn's wrist as the nurse took her back. "The doctor will be in pronto," the nurse said running to get the doctor, and Niall tried to comfort Kristyn as she laid in pain. He held her hands, and finally the doctor got into the room.
