Niall Horan and Kristyn were engaged, and their lives were very busy. When Niall wasn't touring, he was a dentist and orthodontist on the side, and Kristyn was finishing up her senior year of high school. One thing that was hard with being Niall Horan's fiancé, was that nobody believed her when she talked about it. Kristyn's classmates and teachers were awfully rude to her; they made up rumors, teased her, and did other things to just be downright rude, all because they didn't believe her. So, it wasn't unusual for her to sit at lunch by herself, and call Niall as she ate, because his office would be closed for lunchtime too. "How is your day?" Kristyn asked as she took a bite, and Niall went to answer her. "Good! How is yours?" Niall asked as Kristyn took another bite, and instantly felt a sharp pain in her tooth. "Ah!" Kristyn sounded as she grabbed her face. "What's wrong, babe?" Niall asked hearing Kristyn's discomfort as she tried not to scream out in pain. Kristyn stopped as Niall asked, and she felt fear wash over her. She didn't want to tell Niall what was bothering her, because of regardless of her fiancé being one, she was terrified of the dentist, and knew he would make her come in. "I'm fine, I just bit my cheek is all," Kristyn said after she hesitated to answer. "I don't believe you. Something else is bothering you," Niall said knowing that by the sound that she made when whatever it was happened, that it was way worse than just biting her cheek. "Sign yourself out, and come down here and I'll check everything out," Niall said knowing she probably needed to be checked out. "No, no. Really, I'm fine," Kristyn argued trying not to have to go. "Don't be silly. I won't hurt to check, plus you can leave school early," Niall argued back. "Niall, I swear, I'll be okay," Kristyn tried again. "Come down to the office, Kristyn. Let me check it out just in case," Niall said back, and Kristyn sighed knowing she wasn't going to win the argument. "Okay, I'll be right there," Kristyn said finally agreeing as she packed up her lunch, and standing to go to sign out. "Okay, babe. See you soon," Niall said as Kristyn got off the phone. Kristyn threw the remainders of her lunch away, and then went to leave. She signed herself, and then walked out to her car. She huffed as she put her backpack in the passenger seat of her car, and then was off to Niall's office.
Kristyn drove about 15 minutes down the road, and she could feel her heart starting to pound as she pulled into the familiar office. She parked her car, and unbuckled as she situated herself. She took a breath to try and steady her uneven breathing, and then texted Niall to tell him she was there. Niall walked over the beige colored floor, and unlocked the door, since they were still on break for lunch. "Hey babe!" Niall said as the door made that chiming sound as it opened, and Kristyn's stomach turned as she heard it. Even such a small noise was enough to send a nervous wave over her, because it was about reminder that she was at the dentist's office. He pulled her into a hug and kissed her fondly. "Hey," Kristyn said and Niall heard the nervousness in her voice. He took her hand, and lead her back to an exam room. Kristyn scanned the room. She had been in that exam room a million times with Niall, she had her regular dental appointments and her braces work on her clear braces in that room several times, but it didn't help that it was familiar territory, she was still terrified. "Okay, babe. Just go ahead and take a seat while I get everything," Niall smiled as he grabbed a fresh set of tools. Kristyn sat down in the uncomfortable plastic dental chair, and watched Niall set everything up. He smiled at her comfortingly as he pulled some gloves on, and turned the overhead light on. "Alright, baby. Open up for me," Niall said as he leaned her back. Kristyn opened and Niall went to look around for any damage or anything that could be wrong. "Well, it looks like you have four cavities," Niall said with a sad face, and Kristyn just looked at him. She heard what he said and comprehended it, but was almost frozen in fear at the news. Niall instantly knew exactly what was wrong, and was quick to start up some laughing gas and put it on her nose. "Okay, Kristyn, I'm going to give you some numbing gel on these sticks, okay?" Niall asked as he held them in front of her to see, and she opened her mouth to let him put them in there. Niall sat up the needles, and gave the numbing gel a second to take affect. Niall moves the needles over to the tray, and Kristyn tried not to look at them. Niall reached to take the sticks out of her mouth, and then he sat them to the side as he picked up a needle. "Okay, babe. You're going to feel a prick," Niall said as he approached her mouth with the syringe. Kristyn was shaking at this point, and she closed her eyes as the needle came closer. The moment the needle hit her gums, Kristyn started bawling, and Niall felt awful. "Shh, hey, it's alright! You're doing so good, baby. Hang in there. Relax, babe," Niall said trying everything in his power to calm her down. "I'm right here, Kristyn. I know it's terrible, I'm so sorry. It's alright, you're doing great! Not much longer," Niall tried again, but it still wasn't working, so he got another idea. "I see us in black and white, crystal clear on a star lit night, in all your gorgeous colors, I promise that I'll love you for the rest of my life," Niall started singing, knowing that his singing typically can calm her down, but not even that was working. Niall worked quickly to get the numbing done, and held her hand as he worked to grab some more tools. "All done with the numbing, babe," Niall said as he finally got Kristyn calmed down soon as the numbing took affect. Anytime Kristyn had to get the numbing shots, her mouth got really really numb. "Alright, I'm going to start drilling the cavities out," Niall said getting the drill and working away. "You're doing great," Niall would say along with other encouraging words every once in a while just to make sure Kristyn was okay. "Great! All done with the cavities. I'm going to give you a quick tightening since you're due for one, babe, and then you'll be good to go," Niall said as he got more supplies out of the cabinet. Niall put the tightest wire on, as well as some power chains, since she was due to get them off the next appointment. He tightened the clear wire down with some clear rubber bands, and then Kristyn was done. "Okay, Kristyn! You're finished!" Niall said leaning Kristyn up, and he pulled her into a hug as she stood up from the dental chair. They stood embraced for a minute, and then he pulled away a little to look at her. "It's about time to open the office again. You can go lay down on the couch in my office, and wait for me to be done with work if you want," Niall offered and Kristyn nodded tiredly. Kristyn made her way to Niall's office as he opened back up the dental office, and she laid down after shutting the door. She grabbed a blanket off the arm of the couch, and she fell into a sleep.
A few hours later, Niall walked quietly into his office room to wake up Kristyn. He turned the light on, and kneeled down in front of the couch. "I'm done with work, babe," Niall said as he put his hand on Kristyn's shoulder, and moved the hair off her still numbed face. Kristyn shifted under him and stretched to wake herself up. "Ready to go home?" Niall asked her with a smile, and she nodded and he shut off and closed everything down as she went out to the car. They arrived back at their shared home, and Kristyn was more than happy to be there. "You go lay on the couch, babe. I'll be in there shortly," Niall said kissing her nose, and going to the kitchen to prepare Kristyn and him some dinner. He was quick to put together some soft foods, and take them into the living room. "I made you some dinner," Niall said and sat the plate down on the coffee table. "Thank you, babe," Kristyn said as she sat up. She was finally getting some of them feeling back in her face, so she was able to eat the dinner Niall made. "It was good, Ni. Thank you," Kristyn said and Niall smiled at her as he stood to take their plates to the sink. "Thank you!" Niall said walking it in there, and then coming back to lay with Kristyn. Niall made his way back quickly, and Kristyn sat up so he could lay on the couch. After he laid down, he pulled Kristyn close to him and the watched the TV for a bit. After cuddling on the couch for a while, Niall heard Kristyn yawn, and he was getting tired himself. "Ready for bed, Kristyn?" Niall asked as he looked down at his fiancé. She nodded and he saw her eyes were closed. "Okay!" Niall said as they sat up, and they turned off the TV and lights in the room. Niall and Kristyn missed the presence of cuddling close to each other, so they quickly brushed their teeth, got on pajamas, and hopped into bed to resemble the position they had on the couch. "I love you!" Niall said as he pulled her as close as he could. "I love you!" Kristyn said back to him snuggling in. With that, they fell asleep happily in each other's arms.
