Niall Horan and Liam Payne were happily married. Liam knew Niall like a book, and he knew one of his biggest fears was the dentist. Niall had recently been to a dentist appointment, and it was his first one in quite a while. Liam had to practically drag him all the way there, and they got some pretty awful news. He was going to have eight fillings done, two root canals, and he was going to have to get braces yet again. Niall was absolutely devastated at the news, and had been dreading the appointment for about a week now. The morning of the appointment, he woke up feeling sick to his stomach from nerves. "Niall, wake up. You need to get ready to go," Liam said as the alarm went off. They had gotten the earliest appointment that the office offered, that way Niall didn't have to spend the whole morning thinking about it, and freaking himself out even more. Niall yawned and Liam patted him on the shoulder. "Up, up, up!" Liam said with a laugh, and Niall groaned. "I don't think I need to go, Li. I mean, what's another week going to hurt?" Niall asked as he pulled the cover up higher. "Nooo, Niall. You waited way too long to go to your dentist appointment. If we don't do it now, you'll never do it," Liam said and Niall huffed knowing he was right. "I'll be downstairs waiting," Liam said as he slid some different clothes on, brushing his teeth, and heading out. Niall finally rolled out of the bed, and brushed his teeth. He could feel his hands shaking at the thoughts of going, and it was honestly making it kind of hard to brush his teeth. Niall checked his hair in the mirror, and gave up on trying to fix it by just pulling a beanie on, and walking down the stairs. "Yay! I don't have to drag you out of the bed," Liam laughed as he went to kiss his boyfriend on the nose. "Yeahh," Niall said as he enjoyed the soft gesture from his husband. "Okay, out we go!" Liam said as he ushered Niall to the door, and they were on their way to the appointment.
Niall could feel his heart beating out of his chest as they pulled into the parking lot of the familiar building. Niall wanted to make a run for it, but Liam came around the car and grabbed his hand. Niall knew Liam was trying to hide it as them just holding hands like normal, but he knew that Liam also did it to ensure that he didn't try and bolt away. They came in and got Niall signed in, and was taken back momentarily. "The dentist will be right in," the assistant said as she got Niall sat up in the chair, and walked out to notify the dentist he was there. "I really hate this," Niall said as his eyes scanned the room and all of the scary tools. "I know you do, babe. I'll be right here the whole time," Liam said as he moved the chair closer to Niall's dental chair, and grabbed Niall's hand. He ran a thumb over his knuckles as the dentist walked in, and he saw Niall shift in the chair uncomfortably. "Hey guys!" the dentist said and they shared hellos. The dentist wasted no time in getting ready to get started, and the whole time he watched the dentist get scrubbed up, Niall's breathing was getting shallower and shallower. "Babe, stay calm," Liam said as Niall's grip on his hand got tighter. "Okay, Niall! We will get started, bud," the dentist said, and Niall's stomach sank. "Open nice and wide for me," the dentist said, and Niall refused. "Come on, Niall," Liam said giving his husband a look, but Niall erupted into cries. "I'll give you two a minute," the dentist said excusing himself, and Liam pulled Niall into a hug. "Shh, baby. It's okay!" Liam said as he rubbed Niall's back. The dentist came back in a few minutes later, and Niall was still not completely calmed down. "I'll give you more time," the dentist said, but Liam shook his head. "That's alright," Liam said and gently made Niall lay back down. Niall's tears didn't subside, but Liam held his hand tight with one, and then used his other hand to play with Niall's hair. "Relax, baby. You're alright. I'm right here," Liam said and the dentist got to work on getting everything done. "Okay, Niall, I'm going to numb you," the dentist said, and Liam kept him reminding him to breathe, and he let Niall squeeze his hand as hard as he needed. The dentist then got to work on the root canals, and then did his fillings, which were silver. "Great job, Niall. Now, time for the braces," the dentist said working to put Niall's braces on. By the end of it, Liam's hand was numb, but he didn't mind as long as it helped his baby. "Okay, you're all done," the dentist said handing him a mirror to look at his braces. Niall inspected them, and Liam smiled at him. "They look great, babe!" Liam said and Niall looked at him. "Thank you, I just hate that I had to get them again," Niall said as they walked out after thanking the dentist, and going home to rest.
