Hope you are all well! Much love!
Kristyn had gotten her clear braces, and they had told her to make an appointment to have her first tightening about four weeks later. Kristyn had been keeping up with the weeks, and called to make her appointment when it was time. "Hello, my name is Kristyn. I'd like to make an appointment to get my first braces tightening," Kristyn said when the receptionist answered. "Okay! Let me just pull you up in the computer," she said and Kristyn could hear her typing. "Okay, you are scheduled! Also, your orthodontist retired in the month, so we have a new one to take his place," she explained and Kristyn sat in silence for a few seconds. "That's okay," she said and the lady said her goodbyes, and Kristyn grew kind of nervous. She wasn't told anything about the new orthodontist, so it was going to be weird going in not knowing a single thing about her new one.
Kristyn sat in class and looked at the time on her phone. She realized it was time for her to start heading to her appointment, and her stomach turned a little bit at the thought. She went down and signed herself out of school early, and was off to the orthodontist office. Kristyn pulled in and unbuckled herself as she stared at the bland white building. She pondered on whether she should go in, or if she should just drive home, but decided she needed to go ahead and go in. She knew it would be better to face it now, and get it over with. She locked her car, and headed in to sign herself in. "Good afternoon! Name, please?" a blonde lady a the computer said as she walked in. "Kristyn," she said with a small smile as she could feel her heart pounding a little. "Great! Just sign here, and we will call you back shortly," the lady said and Kristyn filled out the paperwork, and then went to go sit in the uncomfortable waiting room seats. Kristyn decided to scroll through Instagram while she waited. She scrolled for about ten minutes, and she saw that Niall Horan had posted something, but she was interrupted from getting to look at it when her name was called. She looked up to see a dental assistant smiling as she waited for Kristyn to come to the door. Kristyn stood and followed the lady down the hall as she made small talk with Kristyn. "You'll be right in this room, dear! Dr. Horan will be right in," she said as she opened the door for Kristyn, and then turned to walk back down the hall. Kristyn ran the name "Dr. Horan" over and over again in her head knowing the name sounded familiar. 'Horan, like Niall Horan,' she thought to herself as she sat down in the chair. 'What if Niall Horan is here, and he is the orthodontist?' Kristyn thought once she realized they shared the same last name. 'No, that can't be right. He's a singer,' she answered herself as she felt her head shake at the thought. Kristyn was pulled from her thoughts when she heard the door open. "Hi, I'm Dr. Horan," the man said as she turned around to face him. He had brown hair, and looked not much older than her. It took her a second, but once Kristyn realized who it was, she was absolutely shocked. Her thoughts had been right, and now she was looking at the real Niall Horan. "You can just call me Niall," he smiled as he reached out to shake Kristyn's hand. "Kristyn," she introduced herself, not being able to get more than just her name out. She couldn't believe he was actually standing right in front of her, but she kept her shock hidden. Niall sat down on the stool as he opened Kristyn's file, and began to look through it. "Would it be okay if I went ahead and gave you a cleaning, since your six-month cleaning is coming up?" he asked as he noticed she was almost due for it. "Yes!" Kristyn answered back as she was still comprehending who she was talking to. "Awesome! We will get started then!" Niall said as he started to lean the chair back. He outfitted himself in some gloves and a mask, and then he turned the overhead light on, following up by putting a bib around Kristyn. Then, they were ready to start.
"Okay, Kristyn. Open up for me, please," he said as he picked up his tools. He scanned around for cavities, and he spotted a couple. "It looks like you have two cavities forming, but they don't need to be filled yet," Niall explained as he kept looking around to check everything. Kristyn sighed in relief, and then Niall moved on to cleaning her teeth. "Okay! I'll start the tightening now," he said finishing cleaning her teeth. Niall removed the bands and wire from her brackets, and then he replaced it with the new wire, and put on a power chain because he wanted her teeth to start moving a little faster. "All done!" he said as he leaned Kristyn up in the dental chair. "Thank you!" she said as she sat up to stand. "No problems! Here is my number, just in case you need to get ahold of me for any reason. Don't hesitate to call or text if anything happens to your braces, or if you have any questions or concerns," Niall said writing his number out on a slip of paper with a smile. "Awesome! I appreciate it!" she said before leaving the office and going home. After she got home, she went to take a nap, and was pulled from her slumber as she heard her phone ringing. She reached over on the nightstand to grab her ringing phone, and rubbed her eyes to get them to focus on the caller ID. She saw that it was Niall calling, and she smiled as she answered. "Hello?" she asked as she propped herself up. "Hey, Kristyn, it's Niall. I was calling to check up on you, and make sure everything was going alright after your appointment today," he said and caused Kristyn to smile even more at how nice he was. "I'm good! A little sore like normal from braces, but nothing major at all! Thank you for calling!" Kristyn answered him. "Oh, it's no problem at all! I'll let you get back to what you were doing, but remember, don't hesitate to call or text if you need," he said. "Okay! Thanks again! Bye," she said and they hung up. Kristyn thought about the call as she leaned back into her pillow, and thought about how sweet it was of him to call.
A month later, Kristyn was due for her next tightening. She wasn't nervous to go this time, she was actually kind of excited to see Dr. Horan again. She walked in, and they took her back relatively quickly. "Welcome back, Kristyn!" Niall said as he walked in the room. "Thank you," she laughed at him as he sat down. Niall gloved up as he started examining to make sure everything was still looking good, and he wanted to see if her cavities had gotten any bigger. "It looks like your cavities have gotten a little bigger. Would you like to go ahead and get them filled, so they don't get any bigger?" Niall asked her as he took the tools out of her mouth. "Sure," Kristyn answered him, just wanting to go ahead and get it over with. "Okay! Here's just some laughing gas," he said pulling the nub over her nose, and turning the oxygen on. "Okay, little pinch," Niall said as he numbed her with the shot. Kristyn tensed up, but nothing too bad, and Niall finished the numbing quickly. "Great!" Niall said picking up the drill and getting started on drilling her cavities out. "Awesome job! Now, I'm just going to tighten your braces, and you'll be good to go," he said as he replaced the old wire and bands with new ones. "Okay, you're done!" he said leaning her up. "So, I actually wanted to ask you a question. Could I take you on a date?" Niall asked Kristyn and she smiled at him. "Yes! That'd be great!" Kristyn answered him back, and Niall smiled at her. "Great! I'll text you the details, and we will get something scheduled!" Niall said and Kristyn said okay as she walked out with a huge grin on her face.
Staying true to what he said, Kristyn got a call from Niall later that day. They agreed to meet the next day after he got off of work, and they were both extremely excited. The went on the date, and had a really great time. "You know, the first time I saw you, I knew you were the one for me. First of all, you're gorgeous and so amazing. Secondly, you didn't freak out when I walked in like most girls do," Niall explained as they walked hand in hand around the pond at the park they were at for their first date. Kristyn smiled at his comment, and he smiled back at her. "Would you like to be my girlfriend?" he asked her, and Kristyn's heart melted. "Of course!" she said back happily, and he hugged her. As time went on, Kristyn continued to come back to the office every month to get her braces tightened, and Niall and Kristyn started seeing each other so much that there was rarely a day that they weren't together, and they got extremely close. Finally, Niall proposed to her, and they got happily married two years after they met on Niall's birthday.
