Niall and Kristyn Horan were at their London house, and they were sitting soaking up the sun on their back deck. Niall had been weirdly quiet all day long, and Kristyn knew he was acting strange. "What's the matter, babe?" she asked finally after she noticed he seemed uncomfortable. "Nothing," he answered plainly, but Kristyn gave him a look of "I know better than that." "The back of my mouth is really hurting," Niall said admitted and Kristyn's eyes widened. "Babe, you should've said something! I'll go make you an appointment with Dr. Todd," Kristyn said heading into the house to call. Niall felt a shutter of nervousness come over him when she mentioned the word dentist. "We have an appointment later today. Babe, you should've told me," Kristyn said kissing his nose.
Niall and Kristyn got ready, and went to the office, and he was taken back relatively quickly. "Alright, Niall," Dr. Todd said pulling up a chair and looking at his x-rays to find the problem. "Well, looks like your wisdom teeth are coming in sideways, and are pushing your other teeth, because they don't have enough room to get out," Dr. Todd said diagnosing the problem. Niall hearing this was enough to make him start crying immediately. "It's alright, we will remove them, and you'll be good to go," Dr. Todd smiled and started leaning Niall's chair back. Kristyn got close to Niall, and held his hand as the chair was situated. Dr. Todd pulled the laughing gas around, and put it up to the highest possible setting in an attempt to relax Niall some. "Breathe deep, babe," Kristyn said trying to calm him down. He really gave it a fair chance, but he was terrified. "Okay, Niall. I'm going to put a mouth prompt in," Dr. Todd said having Niall open his mouth, and situating it in his mouth. "You're alright, babe," Kristyn said rubbing his arm as Dr. Todd started to get the needles ready. As Dr. Todd started to put the first needle in, Niall's grip on Kristyn's hand intensified, and his leg went up from the pain. This caused him to cry even more as he laid on the chair. "Shh, baby," Kristyn said as more tears ran down his face. "It hurts!" Niall exclaimed through sobs as every needle was put in. Dr. Todd had to do double the amount of numbing it normally takes because he needed to be numbed really well, so Niall wound up with a grand total of 40 shots. It was taking so many needles, because his wisdom teeth were farther down, so he had to numb his gums, and down the side so Niall was pain free. "You're doing so good, babe! Just relax," Kristyn said as the needles were administered, and she tried to get his attention off of what was happening. Dr. Todd was finally ready to start the removal, and Niall's eyes started to droop from the exhaustion of crying. "Close your eyes, baby," she said and he did, and fell right to sleep. "Alright! We are done!" Dr. Todd said after breezing through when Niall had fallen asleep. "I'm just going to check his files really quick," Dr. Todd said looking over them. "Oh! He is due for another tightening for his braces, this is the last one!" Dr. Todd said getting the stuff ready. "Hopefully he will stay asleep," Kristyn laughed as he started to take Niall's wire and bands off. "I hope so for his sake!" Dr. Todd laughed, and grabbed the strongest wire they had, and fit it over his brackets. "I'm putting the tightest wire, and a power chain on to just pull everything together nicely, so he will probably have some added discomfort from this," Dr. Todd informed Kristyn. "Okay!" she said watching as Dr. Todd worked. Dr. Todd put some cotton in the back of his mouth to stop the bleeding, and he cleaned up the area as they waited for Niall to wake up. Niall woke up noticing the cotton in his mouth, and his mouth was hurting immediately after waking up. Kristyn rubbed his back as he leaned up in the chair to gather his thoughts. "He took your wisdom teeth out, and then changed your wire for the last time, and put a power chain on," Kristyn explained to Niall, and he nodded. "Ready to go?" she asked as he started to stand, and he nodded again. After she helped him into the car, he laid his head down on the door, and she could tell how exhausted and how much pain he was in. "My poor baby," she said driving him home, and helping him up to the bed. The rest of the night Niall stayed numb for quite a while due to all of the numbing, and Kristyn rubbed Niall's face to help with the pain after she gave him some medicine. She did a wonderful job of taking care of him for the next week, and he was so thankful for Kristyn.
The next week, they went back to get Niall's stitches out from his wisdom teeth removal. "How are you guys doing?" Dr. Todd said leaning the chair back. "Pretty good, I'm finally not sore anymore," Niall said as the chair stopped, and Dr. Todd slid his gloves on. "Great! They look to have healed wonderfully! I'll have these right out!" Dr. Todd said pulling the stitches out. "While you're here, I'm just going to look around and see how things are looking," Dr. Todd said grabbing his explorer and looking around. "I'm going to give you some rubber bands to wear for the next month, only at night, because I'm not 100% liking how your bite looks. I think it needs to shift some. It'll make your smile look even better, and it'll help the small overbite you have" Dr. Todd said grabbing the rubber bands to show Niall how to put them on. "Thank you!" Niall said as Dr. Todd finished showing him everything. "No problem! I'll see you at the end of the month to get the braces off, and you can call me in the meantime if anything comes up!" Dr. Todd said as Niall started to walk out the door. "Thank you!" he said and they went home. After the appointment, Kristyn and Niall went home to just chill for the rest of the afternoon. "These feel weird," Niall said that evening when it was time to put them in. "You'll get used to them," Kristyn said laughing with Niall. They settled down and watched a movie as they cuddled on the couch together as happy as could be.
