Hope you are all well! Much love!
Kristyn was enjoying a great day out with her parents, and they had just sat down to eat lunch at Kristyn's favorite restaurant. Their food was brought to them, and things were going great until Kristyn took another bite of something hard, and heard felt her tooth snap, as well as the bracket breaking that was on her tooth. "Ow!!" Kristyn said reaching up to grab her jaw. "What, Kristyn?! Are you okay?" Kristyn's parents asked concerned, and could feel pain pulsing through her mouth as she went to answer them. "No, I think I broke my tooth and my bracket," Kristyn explained trying to will the pain away as she rubbed her cheek. "Kristyn, you need to go to your dentist (who was an also an orthodontist)!" her dad said as, and she could see how concerned he was. Kristyn shuttered at the words "dentist." For Kristyn, there was nothing scarier than going to the dentist. Kristyn was never fond of the dentist, she was always terrified, and her dentist wasn't any help for that, as he was incredibly mean. She could feel her heart starting to pound, and her hands getting clammy at the mere thought of going. "No, it's alright. I'm fine. Really!" Kristyn said as she tried to play off the pain, so she didn't have to go to the dentist, but her parents could see right through her. "No, you have to go, dear," her mom said with a frown. She hated that her daughter was so afraid of the dentist, but she knew she needed to get Kristyn there soon. "Fine. I'll go," Kristyn finally agreed after several seconds of coaxing. Deep down, Kristyn knew it needed to be fixed, especially since the longer she sat there, the worse the pain got. "Okay! Let's head that way," her dad said standing up as he got the check, and they made their way out to the car to take her.
The car ride there was quiet. Kristyn couldn't move her mouth without searing pain, and she felt super sick to her stomach. Every building she passed she knew they were getting closer, and it was getting harder for her to keep her calm. "Okay, hun. We will be out here," her mom said as they pulled into the familiar parking lot. Kristyn sighed as she unbuckled and got out of the car, with a simple "okay." Kristyn approached the white building, and the smell of the dentist office hit her like a ton of bricks. "I haven't missed that smell," she thought to herself as she pulled the big wooden door open to reveal the waiting room. "Hey, Kristyn! What's wrong?" The receptionist at the desk asked. Kristyn was thankful they knew her so well, it made the appointments a little less dreadful. They are always super nice, and it always made her feel better after having to deal with her horrendously awful dentist. "I think I broke my tooth and my bracket," Kristyn explained as another sharp pain ran through her mouth, and was beginning to give her a headache. "Oh my! Okay, I'll get you out down as an emergency appointment!" the receptionist said as she typed, and had Kristyn sign a couple of things. "Also, your old dentist retired and there is a new one in his place," the receptionist smiled as Kristyn finished the quick paperwork. "Okay," Kristyn said as she walked over to the waiting room chairs. That added a whole new layer of worry, because she knew nothing about this new dentist; however, it was somewhat comforting to know she didn't have to deal with the old mean one. She sat there for a few minutes, and her leg bounced up and down nervously. "Kristyn?" she heard as the dental assistant opened the door. Kristyn looked at the blonde at the door and had a split second thought of just leaving, but she knew the lady knew her, and that it was too late to try and make a break for it. "Hi!" the lady greeted as Kristyn joined her. "Hello," Kristyn said trying not to open her throbbing mouth too much. "You'll be in this room right here," the receptionist smiled as she opened the door for Kristyn, and Kristyn slipped into the dental chair. The dental assistant set Kristyn up with a bib, and all of the other necessities. "Okay! Dr. Horan will be right in," she smiled as she sat down. "Horan...Like Niall Horan? Oh my gosh, what if he's my dentist?!" Kristyn thought to herself as she sat in the chair. "What if it is him?!" she thought again, but then stopped herself. "Surely not..he's a singer..but he could be!" she though one more time when she heard the door open, and sure enough, Niall Horan came walking into the room. "Oh my gosh," she thought to herself, and she felt her heart skip a beat. "Hi! I'm Dr. Horan, but you can call me Niall," he said as he went to sit down on the stool. "I'm Kristyn," she smiled, and immediately regretted it as she felt the pain resurface. "Nice to meet ya! I heard you think you broke your tooth and bracket, so I'm just going to take a quick look," he smiled as he pulled gloves and a mask on, and then picked his tools up, and Kristyn nodded in reply. "Alright, do you mind to open for me?" he asked her, and Kristyn opened. She winced as he touched the tooth with his explorer. "It is indeed, broken. I'm going to have to extract it. I also see three cavities in, you have two in the teeth above the broken one, and then you have another on the one across from it. I'm just going to pull all three of those too since you have braces, that way it doesn't mess up your braces process," Niall told as he took the tools out of her mouth. That was all it took for Kristyn to break down and start crying. Niall knew immediately that Kristyn was afraid of needles, and he felt awful he had to extract the teeth. "Hey, it's alright! I'm going to give you some laughing gas," Niall said as he pulled down his mask, so she could see his smile in hopes it would ease her nerves a little. He pulled the nub over her nose, and Kristyn tried to get settled. Niall got some numbing gel ready on some sticks, and then took them back over to the chair. "Here's some numbing gel," he said , and stuck them in her mouth and gave them a second to start working. "Okay, Kristyn, we are all ready to go. I want you to close your eyes, and you're going to feel a little prick," Niall smiled comfortingly one last time before putting his mask back on. "1-2-3," Niall said as he put the needle in, and the moment it hit Kristyn's gums, she tensed and erupted into another round of crying. Kristyn's first instinct was to reach up and grab the needle, but the assistant grabbed her hands as she saw Kristyn go to grab it. "Alright, Kristyn, one more side," Niall said as he pulled the needle out, and started to numb the other side. Niall did the numbing for each tooth, and she wound up with a total of eight shots, since she had four teeth he was pulling. "Great, all done with that part! We will just wait for that to numb, and I'll go ahead and take your bands and wire off, so I can get them out easier," Niall said as he got to work on doing it. Niall finished taking everything off just in time, because as he finished Kristyn said that she was numbed. "Okay! Let's get started," Niall said as he got started with the procedure. He worked diligently to get all four teeth removed, and Kristyn didn't feel a thing which she was more than grateful about. While Niall was doing everything, he went ahead and put a tighter wire on her braces as well as power chains. "Alrighty, you're all done. I went ahead and did a tightening on your braces, because you were due for one," Niall said as he leaned her up, and Kristyn nodded in response. They said quick goodbyes, and he gave her his number just in case anything went wrong or she needed anything. Kristyn went back to the car, and was happy to go home and take a nap.
