Kristyn lived with her twin brother, Liam Payne, and also her fiancé, Niall Horan, Liam's best friend and bandmate. The boys were both in One Direction, and Kristyn worked as a dentist and owned her own practice. Kristyn was sitting in her office when she heard a knock on the door, and then Niall appeared from the hall. "Hey!" Niall said as he walked in and sat in one of the chairs in front of Kristyn's desk. "Hey!" Kristyn greeted looking up from her computer screen. It wasn't uncommon for Niall to come see her at work when One Direction would take breaks when they had nothing to do for a bit. "How's work been?" Niall asked as Kristyn leaned back in her chair. "Busy," Kristyn laughed and immediately felt the pain in the back of her mouth return. She grabbed her cheek, but immediately tried to disguise it as her just rubbing her face. Niall looked at Kristyn concerned, because he noticed she looked like she may have been in pain. "Are you okay?" Niall asked her. "Yes," Kristyn fake smiled, but Niall knew better. "Come on, Kristyn. You know you can tell me anything. What's wrong?" Niall prompted as he grew more concerned. Kristyn sighed because she knew Niall knew something was wrong. "My teeth are hurting in the very back," Kristyn said finally breaking down and telling him. "Awe, babe. I'm sorry!" he said standing and pulling Kristyn into a hug. "When is the last time you saw the dentist?" Niall asked as he rubbed Kristyn's back. "Probably about six years ago," Kristyn confessed, and Niall pulled back to look at her. "No wonder you're hurting. You've gotta see a dentist," Niall said and Kristyn shook her head. "No, I'm good," she said and Niall sighed. "Baby, you have to go," Niall said taking Kristyn's hand in his as he continued to hug her. Kristyn knew Niall was right about needing to go see one, but she was honestly horrified of dentists and needles even though she was one. "I don't have another dentist to check what's going on," Kristyn said hoping that it would get her out of having to go, but she was wrong. "My old dentist that I went to before you became on is right down the street," Niall suggested and Kristyn looked up at him with worried eyes. "Everything will be okay, baby," Niall promised her. "Will you come with me?" Kristyn asked him. "Of course!" Niall said and Kristyn nodded as she turned her computer off, cleaned up everything, and then closed the office early.
The two of them went to his old dentist just down the street, and Kristyn could feel her body starting to shake as they headed in the door. When they walked in hand-in-hand, everyone still knew Niall. "Hey Niall!" a receptionist said from behind the desk as she stood to hug him. "Hey Allie! How are you?" he asked as she sat back down. "I'm good! How are you?" Niall said as wrapped his arm around Kristyn's waist. "I'm great! And you must be Kristyn!" she said standing to hug Kristyn too. "I am!" Kristyn said trying to get rid of her nerves and focus on how friendly everyone was. "I'm Allie! It's so nice to meet you! Dr. Todd, we have some patients you may recognize!" the receptionist called to him in the hall as Niall signed Kristyn in quickly, and Dr. Todd walked to the waiting room door and popped his head in. "Niall! Hey man!" Dr. Todd said shaking Niall's hand. "Hey Dr. Todd! Kristyn, this is Dr. Todd. Dr. Todd, this is my fiancé, Kristyn," Niall smiled and Dr. Todd directed just attention to her. "Hi Kristyn! So nice to meet you!" Dr. Todd said reaching to shake her hand. "Nice to meet you too," Kristyn smiled and he waved her toward the door. "Come on back!" he said and the two of them followed Dr. Todd into an exam room.
"Just take a seat for me, dear," Dr. Todd said as he went to grab his supplies, and Kristyn wandered to the chair nervously. Niall pulled the spare chair right up next to the dental chair, and Dr. Todd came back over to the two of them with a bib. "Here we go," he said putting it around Kristyn. "I'm going to go ahead and lean you back," he smiled and he reached above her to turn the overhead light on. He slid gloves on his hands, and then he outfitted a mask on his face before finally taking his seat. Dr. Todd grabbed his explorer and mirror, and then turned back to Kristyn. "Okay, can you open for me?" Dr. Todd asked and Kristyn did as he asked. "Awesome!" he said as he looked around to see what was bothering her. "And, you're having pain from the back of your mouth is what I was told?" he made sure and Niall nodded for her. "Okay," he said and inspected every tooth carefully. "Well, it looks like you need six cavities filled," Dr. Todd said taking the tools out of her mouth, and Kristyn gulped at the news. "Do you want go ahead and get them all done today?" Dr. Todd offered and Kristyn looked to Niall for advice. "Get them all done, babe," he smiled and Kristyn nodded anxiously. "Let's get you started on some laughing gas," Dr. Todd said seeing how nervous Kristyn appeared to be getting. Dr. Todd slid the oxygen nub over her nose, and then he started getting some numbing gel on some sticks.
"Open for me," he said and then he put all of the numbing gel sticks in. "Great!" he said and then turned to start getting the needles ready. Kristyn watched him closely as he assembled them, and she could feel her hear starting to pound as he finished. "Okay, so one of your cavities in on your front two teeth, so I have to numb that little piece of skin that connects your gum and lip. That's one of the worst places to get numbed, because it's going to make your nose go numb, okay?" Dr. Todd told her, and Kristyn nodded at him anxiously after he told her that. "Okay, you're going to feel a small pinch," he said as he brought the first needle over. Kristyn grabbed Niall's hand, and Niall ran his thumb over her knuckles. "Okay. 1,2,3," Dr. Todd counted and then gently inserted the first needle which caused Kristyn to burst into tears. "Awe, don't cry! You're doing so good!" Dr. Todd told her as he grabbed another needle. "You're doing great, babe. Just focus on me! Just a few more," Niall encouraged and Kristyn squeezed his hand as she felt another one go in. "You're almost done, Kristyn! Hang in there! You're doing awesome!" Dr. Todd said finishing up the last few. "Okay, all done!" he said after he finally finished and got the drill once he knew Kristyn was good and numbed. He drilled her cavities out, and Niall made sure to keep encouraging her throughout getting them done.
Finally, Dr. Todd finished, and he sat Kristyn up. "You're all done!" Dr. Todd said throwing away his mask and gloves. "You did great, babe!" Niall said as he helped Kristyn up out of the chair. "Thanks again, doc!" Niall said shaking Dr. Todd's hand. "My pleasure anytime! Nice seeing you again!" he said, and Niall walked Kristyn out to the car. "Thanks for coming," Kristyn managed out with a very numb face and Niall smiled. "I didn't mind one bit," he said as he held her hand and drove the two of them home. After they arrived home and walked in the door, Liam looked confused at the doorway from the couch. "Why are you guys home so early?" Liam asked settling back into the couch after he knew it was them. "Well, Kristyn was having some pain in the back of her mouth, so I took her to my old dentist, Dr. Todd, I had before she became one. Turns out she hadn't been in several years, and she wound up having six cavities. She was quite nervous, but she did great!" Niall explained everything with a frown, and Liam frowned too. "Awe, I'm sorry!" Liam said coming over to hug Kristyn. "Do you want to go take a nap, baby?" Niall asked a very tired looking Kristyn. "Yes," she said as best as she could due to still being numb. "Okay," Niall smiled and the two of them went upstairs. Kristyn went over to her drawers and got changed into some pajamas quickly, and then she got into the bed with Niall. Niall pulled Kristyn close, and he played with her hair while they cuddled until the both fell asleep. A few hours later, Niall woke up to Kristyn also waking up. "Hey!" he said, and Kristyn smiled at him. "Hey!" she said back. "You can talk normally!" Niall smiled at her, and she nodded thankfully. "How are you feeling?" he asked her. "Much better!" she said, and Niall smiled. "Well great!" he said looking at her. "Thank you for everything again," she said and Niall pulled her close to him. "Anything for you!" he said and kissed her forehead.
