Niall Horan and Liam Payne were happily married, and as long as they had been together, Niall had diabetes, and Liam was the one to make sure that Niall always took his insulin, to check his blood sugar, and to make sure he was eating the right foods. They were really good about staying on top of everything, and they never really had any complications from Niall's diabetes because they were so careful. However, one day they both got busy, and Niall didn't realize that his blood sugar had been getting low until he started to get a headache and started to shake. He didn't think much of it, he just tried to keep on with everything, and was going to take going to get something to eat when they stopped what they were doing shortly after. Niall plopped down on the couch and started to get dizzy as he sat, and before he knew it, everything Liam was saying to him was blocked out by ringing in his ears. Liam noticed that Niall hadn't answered him back, and he looked over to see if Niall was paying attention. "Niall!" he said when he realized that Niall was shaking violently, and his eyes were slightly glazed over. "Niall, hey," Liam said kneeling down trying to get his attention. Niall tried to focus on Liam, but he couldn't seem to. He tried to answer Liam's continual questions back, but he wasn't able to speak, and tears started to run down his face. "It's okay, baby. I'll call the doctor," Liam said running anxiously over to his phone, and calling Niall's doctor before he got back down in front of Niall and held his hands. "You haven't eaten anything! I bet your blood sugar is low!" Liam realized as the doctor answered. "Hello?" the doctor said. "Hey! This is Liam, Niall's husband. I think he is in diabetic shock!" Liam said and noticed that his breath was raged. "Okay! What are his syptoms?" the doctor asked trying to keep Liam calm. "He's shaking, can't talk, it's almost like he is frozen," Liam said as Niall looked at him with pleading eyes, and Liam rubbed Niall's cheek. "That sounds exactly like diabetic shock. You need to get him something to eat to bring his sugar up," the doctor instructed, and Liam ran to the kitchen. He came back with a KitKat bar that had been sitting on their table. "Here you go, Ni," Liam said helping the younger boy eat the snack. Niall chewed it, and was finally getting back to normal. "He is doing better, thanks doc!" Liam said as he sighed a breath of relief. "No problem! Let me know if anything else happens, and just keep an eye on his blood sugar," the doctor said before hanging up. "You scared me, love," Liam said sitting down next to Niall who was breathing heavily. "Sorry, Li," he managed out as he worked to catch his breath. "That's quite alright, love," Liam said patting Niall on the back to help. "Thank you for helping me!" Niall said after he finally got calmed down. "Anytime! That's my job!" Liam said pulling Niall against him. From that point on, they paid even more attention to Niall's diabetes to make sure nothing like that ever happened again, and Niall was glad his husband was so amazing.
