The next day, Alvaro and Roberto brought Roberto's car keys with a description of the location to the workshop. Juanma was sitting in the cafeteria with Clara Zoe and Mia. Clara proudly said that she was allowed to spend the holidays with Roberto's family.

Everyone was looking forward to the holidays. Ramiro had invited the four to dinner on Sunday evening. He wanted to talk about the vacation, he had said.

Mia was surprised that Isabel wasn't there, but she was visiting a friend and Ramiro came in handy, he wanted to talk to the kids alone.

He also got down to business pretty quickly. "I figured we could ask Isabel if she'd like to spend the vacation with us, and I wanted to know if you'd be for it." Mia's eyes shone. She nodded immediately. The others had no objections either, Alvaro was happy for Ramiro that Isabel would come with him. "Ok," said Ramiro, "then I'll ask her." He smiled at the students.

On the way back the four speculated. "Do you think the two are right together. I mean the house only had three bedrooms" said Zoe with a mischievous expression.

Mia said "I could imagine. Isabel already knew Ramiro before, and maybe it was sparking now." "It would be nice for Ramiro," said Alvaro, a little thoughtfully. A relationship between Isabel and Ramiro would be the end of his mother's marriage. So he was also a bit divided and wondered how Lupe would take that. Mia saw that he was lost in thought and put a hand on his leg. Alvaro tried to concentrate on the road again.

When they got to the school, Alvaro asked Juanma "do you feel like doing a little training"

Juanma nodded and they went into the hall. "Are you okay, captain?" asked Juanma when Alvaro failed to hit the basket for the third time. "I'm worried about Ramiro."

"Why, he seemed happy to me."

"Yes, I think so too and I am very happy for him. But if it becomes public that he is with Isabel, there will be no going back, with my mother"

"Yes, but .." Juanma hesitated a little "Wouldn't that be better, I mean .. because they have often argued."

"Yes it would be better, but somehow it would really be the end of the family I know."

Juanma sat on the floor, ball in hand. Alvaro sat down with him. "Yes, you are right, that would it be. But you have your mother, you have got your father back and you have Ramiro. Just not together in one house, but every single one is there for you and certainly also for Lupe. And we go after school  to study and are slowly becoming more independent anyway. "

When Alvaro said nothing, Juanma put his hand on Alvaro's arm. "You know, I also had serious problems with my mother meeting someone new. Marcello. I had the feeling that the memory of my father was fading and she was forgetting him. But she is happy again. And she is blossoming. And Marcello ..He really tries and is really nice when he's with us."

Alvaro nodded. "I want Ramiro to be happy too. He deserves it."

"But you don't want Mercedes to be unhappy either, you mean that".

Alvaro swallowed. "My mother isn't always the way you see her. She has a very loving side too, she's changed lately and it hurts to see her like that. And the worst part is Lupe becomes just like her."

For a moment Juanma didn't know what to say. His mother had always been loving, she never pretended only to be, only he had treated her very unfairly at times. He put his hand on Alvaro's shoulder and said, "Lupe...we can try to change her together. And Mercedes ... who knows, maybe she will get to know someone again who will bring out her good points." Alvaro nodded. Juanma gave Alvaro's shoulder a slight squeeze and said "hey, captain, one for the team, the team for one. We'll be okay together" Alvaro put his hand on Juanmas, looked at him and said "thank you". Then he got up and pulled Juanma up. "Let's throw a few more balls, ok" Juanma nodded.

In the room, Zoe and Mia continued to speculate. Zoe found this connection totally sweet and Mia was just happy for both of them. Isabel had put her life on hold when she took her in after her mother's death. And she deserved only the best. They judged Ramiro to be the best. "We should just tell Juanma not to tell Florencia, otherwise it will also go down with Mercedes."

Mia said. "But she'll find out anyway," said Zoe. "Maybe it's better when it's out."

Suddenly Mia fell silent. When Zoe looked at her questioningly, she said: "Lupe will hate me again for that. Because because of my godmother, if she is then with Ramiro, Ramiro will not return to Mercedes."

"Did you ever believe that the two of them would get back together," Zoe said, her voice dripping with doubt.

Juanma and Alvaro came to the door just then and heard the last words and Alvaro looked at Juanma meaningfully.
