Ramiro had arranged to meet Mercedes at the school. He didn't want the children with them, but neither should they have to leave the house, and he wanted a relatively neutral place.

Mercedes was waiting for him in her office when he arrived. "Sit down", she said"

"Would you like a coffee first? "Asked Ramiro.

" I already have one, but make yourself a coffee if you want. "Ramiro went into the office and made himself an espresso.

He sat down next to Mercedes and put his cup on the table.

"So? You wanted to talk to me?" she said.

"Yes, Mercedes quite right. But first of all we should make it clear beforehand that we should have a factual discussion."

"That's up to you," said Mercedes. Ramiro took a deep breath. When he didn't say anything, Mercedes said, "Apparently I should start. So you're now in a relationship with Mia's godmother, right?"

"That wasn't the topic I wanted to start with, but yeah, then we'll have it off the table and yes, we're together"

"You wanted to hide that from me again. I knew since Mia was at this school that there was something. "

"I didn't want to hide anything from you and it wasn't anything before. I wanted to talk to you about how to proceed, so that we can live like sensible people with the situation and our children don't suffer."

Mercedes looked at him. For a long moment she said nothing. Then she took a deep breath and said, "Whether your daughter suffers is not my problem. If you are actually meaning my children when you say our children, I can tell you that I have taken precautions so that they no longer suffer."

" What do you mean by that?" asked Ramiro.

"I won't tell you that so you can't turn my children against me again," said Mercedes venomously.

Again Ramiro took a deep breath and said: "I left the house to you without asking anything. I left you the post at school without seriously questioning it. I never put you under pressure on my part, just to defend me And now you're threatening me again to take Lupe and Alvaro out of my life just to satisfy your hatred? Have I ever done something bad to both of them? Because that is the question that needs to be answered on behalf of the children . "

He paused and took a sip of espresso. Mercedes had looked down. Ramiro started again and said, "I didn't want a separation at first. Mia was conceived in a phase where we were separated. Just like Lupe. So we're tied. You wanted to end our relationship and I met Mariana. And you went back to Javier. And then Mercedes, then came the difference between the two of us. While you knew that Lupe wasn't mine, you got Mariana to leave me because you told her you wanted a family with me. She gave in for the baby's sake and didn't want to stand in the way. I, unlike you, knew nothing of any of this. I also didn't know that Mariana was pregnant. So, unlike you, I have neither hidden nor lied. "

"But that you have something with Isabel, you lied to me after all what I have done for you"

"I started a relationship with Isabel on vacation. And yes, I was drawn to her at a certain point that I can't name. But I didn't cheat on you because we were separated then. And I wanted  discuss with you  that I am of the opinion that we work very well as parents and team for this school. As a couple, however, not. And I had hoped that we, as parents and also for the school, would make the best possible out of our cooperation, which means you keep the house, you continue to work at the school, but in return you don't take ALvaro and Lupe from me. "

"As long as this woman takes my place by your side, you will only see the children at school," said Mercedes and stood up. She went up to Ramiro and said "I told you before your great ideal world family vacation that I can't stand and accept any other woman by your side." With that she wanted to leave the room.

Ramiro was faster. He followed Mercedes, grabbed the door and pushed it shut so that Mercedes was standing in front of the closed door.

"Mercedes, I'll tell you this now and only one time. If you really go this way, you will hurt the children very much. And you will lose them in the long run. If that is not enough for you, I will discuss the matter with Javier. You know, which side he is on in relation to the children. "

"You do that every time," said Mercedes. "Why don't you leave him out of the game?"

"Because he learned about children. He learned to respect what they wanted. He learned to be a father. Unfortunately, you have forgotten how to be a good mother. "He reached for the door handle and opened the door again. "I'll be here another hour. If you change your mind, please let me know." He passed Mercedes and left the room.

Juanma kept his word and rang Ramiro's doorbell at the appointed time the next day. Isabel wanted to ask him inside, but Juanma said he just wanted to pick Mia up quickly. When Mia stood in front of the door with him, he said, "If you could choose from everything that was possible, what would you like to do." Mia considered "Going back to the beach" she said then. "Ok, I couldn't do that now," said Juanma with a laugh. "Do you have another wish?"

"Enjoy the sun in a beautiful place," said Mia. "Ok," said Juanma. "Your wish, my command" Mia had to laugh.

They took the bus and Mia realized after a short time that they were going to the river. The four of them had already spent time together there and she was happy.

As they walked through the park, Junama said, "Do you trust me" Mia nodded. "Then close your eyes. I'll guide you."

Mia closed her eyes and let Juanma guide her. She heard the water and they kept walking. "Juanma where are we going" she asked. "Keep your eyes shut, you said you trust me" said Juanma with a grin.

After a time that seemed like an hour to MIa, but was actually only 7 minutes, Juanma said "Stop. Stop right here. Please leave the eyes shut." She heard Juanma walk away a little and then he came closer again. Then heclosed her eyes with his hand and said: "Open your eyes slowly" Mia opened her eyes and Juanma took his hands away.
