They drove a little through the hills and Travis stopped on the side in front of a large forest. When everyone had got out, Travis said "Come with me". They walked a bit through the forest until they came to a small meadow.

Clara saw them  first. The herd of wild horses stood in the meadow on the other side of the forest.

They stood peacefully and grazed. Travis put his finger to his mouth "you have to be quiet," he said. Ruby entered the meadow.

She walked slowly to the middle of the meadow. She sat down with her hands outstretched in front of her. After a while a piebald horse came very slowly towards her. It sniffed her fingers very carefully. Mia and Zoe looked completely incredulous. Travis caught the look and said, " She has this magic. Ruby has an effect on the horses that no one can explain"

"What do you mean by that" said Mia.

"She works with horses from other people who have problems. No organic ones, of course, that's what the vet comes for, but behavior problems like the horse with the saddle this morning. She just understands the animals. And I've never seen anyone  who comes  that close to the horses living in the wild. "

Ruby stood up slowly and turned away from the horse. She put her hand in her pocket and took out a treat and then held it out to him. The horse took it and stopped near her. She slowly walked back up the mountain and back to the others. The horse followed her for a while, but then stopped.

Alvaro, Roberto and Juanma had sat on the grass and watched the animals. The girls would have loved to go to the horses themselves. Travis took Ruby in his arms when she got back to them.

"So guys, do we want to stay here or you wanted to go back."

Travis said, "I still have to look at the car, we could go back and you can ride a bit with our guests." The others nodded and they got back into the cars.

When the cell phones were back on, Alvaro's cell phone beeped several times, but since he was behind the wheel, he left it in his pocket. Juanma was reminded with the beep  that he still wanted to call his mother.

Once at the ranch, Ruby got something to drink for everyone, and Ramiro and Isabel had prepared a few sandwiches for everyone. They sat down and ate something. Juanma then said that he wanted to call his mother and Alvaro also checked his cell phone. He'd missed calls and messages from Lupe and Mercedes. The girls cleared the table and then went with Ruby to the baby cats in the barn. Roberto went with Travis to check on the car. "What's the matter?" He said. "It rattled while driving earlier and I wanted to have a look. Sit in and let it on," he said while opening the hood.

Juanma had reached Florencia. She was pleased that he was having so much fun and said she couldn't imagine him  riding a horse with the best will in the world. Juanma promised to send her a photo. "Are you alone where you are now" she asked. Juanma said a little puzzled "yes, why?"

"Please don't tell the others what I'm telling you. I spoke to Mercedes. She's pursuing the plan to move away with Lupe and Alvaro and work at another school. I tried to talk her out of that,  because of Alvaro and Mia not least because of our friendship. I don't know if she will really pull it off. "

"I'm not saying anything, but after the weekend we should inform Alvaro and Mia. Well and maybe Lupe too."

"Yes, but let them enjoy the weekend. I think Ramiro will speak to Alvaro and Lupe too," said Florencia.

After the phone call, Juanma went to see Travis and Roberto.

" Everything OK?" Roberto asked and Juanma nodded. "What are you doing here."

"Wait a minute," Travis said and pressed a hose into his hand. "I have to look, there is something loose here," he explained while tightening something with a pair of pliers. Juanma heard the girls playing with the cats in the barn and had to smile.

Alvaro had withdrawn to the edge of the paddock with his cell phone and was reading the news with a frown.

Then he took a deep breath and called his mother first. "That's nice, that you can find time to call back," she said with a snappy undertone.

"Sorry mom, we were further up and there was no cell phone reception ..."

"yeah ok," she interrupted him. "I wanted to let you know that I plan to give up the house and move with you guys. We need a fresh start to deal with everything and that's why it will be very soon. I have some schools that want me, without my financial losses. Therefore I would like to have Lupe and you at home on Monday after school so that we can choose a school for you together. "

Alvaro had tried several times to say something, but Mercedes had not been interrupted. Now he said, "I'll stay with Papa"

"Oh no, you won't. You live with me and I still have the right to determine where you live." Alvaro was angry with tears in his eyes. "You will not separate me from Mia and my friends. I will not allow that." With that he hung up and switched off his cell phone. He climbed over the fence of the paddock and ran down the meadow a few metres.
