The next morning, Alvaro let Carmen know about his plan so that she knew what to do about meal planning. She promised not to reveal anything and seemed to like the idea.
Alvaro and Juanma took the girls into town and set off. Mia and Zoe were looking forward to a girls shopping tour.
Zoe had found a nice dress in a shop, which she showed Mia: "Look, that suits you well."
"Yes, but I rarely have the opportunity to wear something like that," laughed Mia.
"Maybe when you have a date," Zoe laughed back and Mia took it and put it with the things she wanted to try on.
They had a lot of fun together. As they sat down for a soda, Mia asked, "Are you happy with Juanma."
Zoe looked at her for a moment and asked, "Why do you ask? I'm happy. Very to say it loud."
"I just wanted to know. Sometimes I have the feeling that Gaspar is still haunted in your head."
"Sometimes he is that too. But it's not a threat to Juanmas and my relationship. I really love Juanma, even if I wouldn't have thought it would be possible a year ago."
Mia grinned and nodded. "I know. You hated both of them."
"Yes, absolutely. And you only pretended that you wouldn't like Alvaro. You didn't tell me the truth," Zoe said with mock indignation. They both had to laugh.
" We haven't talked like that for a long time. We'll have a lot to tell each other after the holidays, even though we were together all the time," laughed Mia." We have to introduce a girls' hour a day, " said Zoe and they both laughed again.
Juanma and Alvaro had arrived at Ramiro's. Alvaro wanted to make the terrace romantic. The fairy light idea from Zoe had given him the idea. "Ramiro's apartment is a man's apartment, we won't find any candles and fairy lights," said Juanma while Alvaro unlocked the door. They looked in some cupboards and found tea lights and a couple of glasses. "That's something." said Alvaro and decorated the terrace.
"At the front corner was a shop that has a lot of things, maybe we'll find two fairy lights there too". He was right. They got two more lightchains and placed them in the planters. In the kitchen, Alvaro prepared the place settings that he didn't want to put out until the next day.
"Zoe had the idea that we, too, would have an evening alone. But if we spend it with her parents ..."
"Mhm," said Alvaro, "Why don't you invite her to dinner. I can recommend the little pizzeria, where I've been twice with Mia. "
" It's hard to get there without a car."
"That's right. But there is a small restaurant in town. It's easy to get to. And you could go to your home with her from there, then you'll be alone and no one will be expecting you at a certain time."
"But what if Zoe's parents are upset?" asked Juanma.
"So Carmen thought the idea of surprising Mia was great. Don't you think if her daughter gets a surprise too, wouldn't she be happy too?"
Juanma nodded. "Ok I'll speak to her later." he said
"It will be a great evening for you," said Alvaro. We have went through so much and I think that is good for us and the girls. "Juanma nodded.
The girls had found some nice things and were happy. It had been good to spend some time alone even though they missed the boys.
"Do you know that I sometimes can't believe our luck? We both liked eachother immediately and became best friends. And Zoe, I've never had a friend like you. Then the guys who hated each other and now check them out They help each other, they trust each other, they stick together and we both have the best boyfriend in the world for each of us. "
Zoe nodded. "I couldn't have put it in words better," she said, laughing.
Mia took Zoe in her arms. Everything would stay that way for another year. Then Alvaro left school. Secretly, Mia was a little afraid of the moment.
The boys were done so far. Alvaro had agreed with the neighbour to take the key and had told her that he would be there the next evening. They drove by the restaurant and reserved a table for Juanma and Zoe. "We can bring you there tomorrow, then we say Mia, we go to dinner together and we tell Zoe to play the game with us," said Alvaro.
"And we pick up our things on Thursday and then spend the day with Zoe's parents again so that they are not disappointed," said Juanma. Alvaro nodded. The plan was there and he was looking forward to it.
He wrote to Ramiro that everything was ready and Ramiro gave a thumbs up and wrote that Lupe got along very well with Gaspar and seemed to be enjoying the vacation. Alvaro was happy about it, even if he doubted that they slept in separate rooms, he remembered the beginnings of him and Mia and had to grin. "Why are you laughing" asked Juanma. Alvaro told him and Juanma said "But on the first vacation on the beach we still stuck to it, roommate"
Both laughed and Alvaro clapped Juanma on the shoulder. Juanma had written to the girls that they would pick them up again. When they got to Zoe's parents, Juanma and Alvaro asked Carmen if she would have a moment and shared their plan. Carmen thought it was a nice idea and was happy for her daughter. She assured both of them that they weren't angry and were happy to spend another day with the kids on Thursday.
