When Ramiro and Isabel were gone, Alvaro wanted to be a little alone with Mia. He spoke briefly to Juanma and Zoe and Mia and he drove to the path that led to the small church. Last time he had seen that the path continued behind and had planned a walk with Mia.

They started walking hand in hand. "Will you stay with Ramiro when I'm with my mother?" Alvaro asked suddenly.

"I think so, I think he had planned that I would be with him for the whole vacation, even if he wanted to go away for a few days with Lupe." Alvaro nodded.

"I have a guilty conscience about leaving you alone. But I'm afraid that it doesn't make sense to ask mom if I can bring you with me. That would add more fuel to the fire now."

"Alvaro you don't have to feel bad. Mercedes and Lupe are your family. It's clear that you want to spend time with them. And I'm in good hands with Ramiro, please don't worry about me."

Alvaro nodded. "I've already spoken to Juanma. He doesn't yet know whether Zoe has to go to her parents too, or rather, whether they are there together or alone, but he has promised not to leave you alone too much. "

Mia turned to him. "Well, I don't think Ramiro will go on vacation with Lupe when you're at Mercedes, but definitely afterwards. So I'll be able to spend my time with Ramiro and maybe Isabel as well. Don't think too much about it, it's all ok "

Alvaro took a deep breath and hugged Mia. It wasn't so much the problem that Mia was not in good hands with Ramiro, and he was also sure that she could go to Juanma or Zoe anytime. But after the intense time on vacation, it was inconceivable for him to be separated from her at all. But they would have to go through that.

"It will do you good to spend a little time with Lupe, then you can see how she is and maybe Mercedes will calm down again. I will miss you very much too and I can hardly wait for the days to be over. But it has to be and who knows, maybe next year everything will be different with Mercedes and Lupe. " Mia said. She didn't want to tell him how much she would miss him, so as not to make it harder for him.

Juanma and Zoe enjoyed their togetherness as well. Juanma had first persuaded Zoe to swim. They swam a long way out until he noticed that Zoe was slowly losing strength. He pulled her back until she could stand again. She thought it was nice to hold onto his shoulders.

"Are you going away with your mother again?" asked Zoe. "My mother wanted to go away with Marcello for a few days. I could have gone with them, but I refused."

They got out of the water and lay down on the towels to dry. Zoe lay on her stomach and traced Juanma's features with her finger.

He enjoyed her touch and opened one eye. "Do you actually know how much I love you?" he asked softly.

"Tell me," said Zoe, grinning.

"More than I can put into words." said Juanma and grinned too.

"But you got well away with it" laughed Zoe "But I love you at least as much"

Juanma took her arms and pulled her close. They lay there for a while and enjoyed the warm rays of the sun on their skin.

"What did you discuss with Mia the other night on the beach. If you want to tell me, of course."

"We talked about how quickly things change and I thought about my father again." Zoe nodded. Alvaro suspected something like that when he held her back.

"You were scared for Mia, weren't you"?

"I think we all were that somehow. Nobody knows what could happen in the cave and Dani later said that it is very branched. The oxygen  doesn't last forever and nobody knew whether she would panic."

"When we arrived by boat, Alvaro was closer to tears than anything else, but I think he didn't want to show it in front of Toni."

"Both understandable. He usually has very strong nerves, but when it comes to Mia ... .. "He thought of how he had been when Zoe was missing in the mall.

"He was happy that Toni took him in, I think he would have gone crazy on the boat"

"Zoe, I would be the same if it had been you. This is a situation you don't want to go through. Ask Mia about the shopping center."

"I know she told me." She took Juanma in her arms again. "Are you going to dive very deep tomorrow?"

"I have no idea. Dani will decide that, I think. I think we can go deeper than 18m alone with Toni and Dani, but I'm not sure about that."

"I find that very interesting, but have you ever looked into the depths of the sea, that is, when you are under water and imagined that a shark is coming towards you."

Juanma had to laugh and sat up. "Zoe! No wonder you're scared and freezing in the water. You shouldn't think about that."

"But there are sharks here."

"Yes, of course. Planes crash too. But Zoe you shouldn't  think like that when you're diving."

He took her in his arms. "There are dangers lurking everywhere, and of course in the water too, but it's not like they're just waiting for us to go into the water."

Zoe had returned his hug. Juanma said softly with a grin in his voice "and I would protect you from any danger underwater" and they both had to laugh.
