The joy was great when Alvaro and Zoe arrived at Ramiro's. "I'd think you haven't seen each other in years." Ramiro laughed.

He had ordered food and they sat down. Ramiro couldn't listen as quickly as the four talked about the internship.

He liked the zeal with which they had been involved, "So do you guys think we can do this every year?"

Mia nodded and Juanma said "Can we do this again next year?"

"I'll think about it and talk to Mercedes about it. First of all I'm happy that you had so much fun and I'll listen to the other opinions. Then we'll look further."

He left the four to themself a bit, because he wanted to talk to Isabel on the phone and go through a few emails.

The four stayed a little longer in the living room. Mia saw that Zoe didn't leave Juanma's side. She was happy about the intimacy of the two.  Mia and Alvaro said goodbye early for the night. Alvaro was a little tired from the different working hours of the week.

When they were in their room, Mia snuggled into bed in front of Alvaro. When Alvaro came along, she said "I hope we can be there for our children forever, that they never end up in the orphanage."

"Unfortunately we have no influence on it, but I hope so too. I want to have a lot of little Mias"he said.
"Only girls is too much kid terror," Mia said with a laugh. "We need calm guys like you to compensate".

Alvaro laughed. "I wasn't always that calm," he said.
"How were you then?"
"I climbed trees, played in the mud, annoyed my sister."
MIa laughed.
Then he said, "I might be a doctor and you and Juanma are a famous duo. It's a mixture"
".A nice mix, but we also live right next to each other, so Zoe can take care of the children when we are performing and you are on duty."said Mia

"Oh, you mean she can design costumes at home too, right?"

They both laughed again. "Would that be something for you? Working as a doctor?"

"It's a lot of responsibility. I mean, you don't just make a mistake that you can correct. If you are unlucky, your patient will die and you will have to live with it. Penny was very calm. We had another intern with another doctor , he was just yelled at. Penny always took the time to explain things to me at least later. She encouraged me to be there. It was a great experience. "

Mia nodded. She recalled the memory of finding Juanma's mother. Alvaro had remained very calm and took care of everything. She could already imagine him in the job.

She took him back in her arms and kissed him. "I missed you for the week, it was weird not to see you in the evening."

"For me too. I kept thinking of you and looking at your photos," said Alvaro

"How's it going to be next school year?" Mia asked.

"Don't think about it yet. We have a whole year left." He caressed her cheek and kissed her. "I realized that I need you like the air to breathe. You have become so important to me that I don't want to imagine a life without you anymore, Mia"

"I can only give that back to you in this way. I can already imagine how we can build a life together. I always want to be with you."

She had her head on Alvaro's chest and was stroaking his stomach. Alvaro had tears in his eyes because he was so happy. He wondered if the old man from the hospital had felt this  too years earlier. 50 years of marriage, that was really something very special. He wished for an eternal life together with Mia. Mia had noticed that Alvaro's breath had changed and looked at him. She caught a tear that ran from the corner of his eye and straightened up. "What do you have," she said. "Nothing," replied Alvaro, wiping his eyes. "I'm just so infinitely happy with you that the feelings sometimes overwhelm me."

Mia took him in her arms. She knew what was going on inside him. She noticed that his breathing became even again and gave him a kiss.

She was glad to be able to fall asleep with him again and to lie in his arms. The week had been very interesting and really fun. She knew she would miss the children too. But she was also happy to have Alvaro and her friends with her again.

Alvaro caressed her shoulder. He knew it was Mia who could always make sure that he was okay, just as it was the other way around. Perhaps fate had really brought them together to live the love Mariana and Ramiro had been denied. And maybe, fate would make it last forever. With these thoughts he fell asleep. Mia noticed that his breathing was even and snuggled closer to him. Then she closed her eyes too.
