The four dived down to the rocks. There were some mussel shells in the cracks. Alvaro's depth gauge read 19 meters, Dani swam to a crevice. He indicated to the boys to be quiet. He scratched the stone a little and waited. A moment later a head came out of the cave. It was gone immediately, but they had all seen him. Dani swam on. He dived to a slightly lower ledge and came back with a clam. It was the size of a palm. Alvaro turned and saw Juanma directly behind him. But Toni was gone. He had just thought so when he reappeared behind rocks.
Alvaro looked around more closely and saw that Toni was diving to a crevice. Juanma swam after him. When Toni swam into the crevice, Juanma paused for a moment. Toni was already outside again. It was like flying under water - Alvaro let himself drift. He did not move and was level in the water. Dani was watching him. The boy was good. They were a little over 20 meters. Dani pulled on Alvaro's hand and indicated to go deeper. Alvaro looked at the display. They swam down. Alvaro had the feeling it were more than10 meters. The device showed only three meters more. They swam past the rocks and swam back up. Suddenly Alvaro had corals and lots of fish in front of him. Juanma and Toni followed the two. Juanma nudged Toni because he had seen a moray eel again. Toni nodded and put on that Juanma should keep his distance.
The girls on the boat had found a bluetooth box and turned on music. They lay in the sun and sang along. "How long do you mean they stay down" Zoe suddenly asked. She looked at the surface of the water but saw none of the four.
" Aren't they gone a too long time? "she asked Mia.
" Oh what, they're having fun, let them be. "
But she also stood and went to Zoe. She looked strained at the sea." There! "she called." They come up. "Why are they staying there?" Said Zoe. "There must have happened comething" It took a moment, then all four reappeared. "That was so great," enthused Juanma immediately.
The four came on the ship. Toni got something to drink for everyone. They sat down on deck. Alvaro and Juanma were talking at the same time. Dani nudged Toni and grinned. The girls listened with interest. MIa sat down very close to Alvaro. "I have an idea" said Toni "let's go over to the reef, then the girls can come with us again" he looked at Dani.
"Ok" said Dani. "We just have to pay attention to the weather." They saw dark clouds coming far out. "Fifteen minutes should go," said Dani.
They drove the ship a little further and then they anchored again. "Get ready," said Toni.
When everyone was done, they went into the water. Juanma stayed with Zoe, who was very attached to Dani. He showed her small animals and shells again. She relaxed, but rarely let go of Juanma's hand. Alvaro and Mia were a long way away with Toni. The 15 minutes were over quickly. Dani gathered everyone back together and made the sign for the ascent. When they were on the ship he looked at the sky. "We have a little more," he said.
"Are you going home again on Saturday?" asked Toni.
"Unfortunately," Mia said and the others nodded.
"Tomorrow we'll cook for Ramiro and Isabel. As a thank you for being here," Zoe said.
"That's cool," said Dani.
"Yes, we'll go shopping afterwards, then we'll finish everything tomorrow and then we'll let them eat".
" And what are you doing the evenig?"
"We'll see," said Mia.
"You know what? We can have a barbecue at the diving school. Then your parents have their peace and quiet and you can also get something to eat," Toni said with a laugh.
The radio answered. "Just a bad weather warning" said Toni and went to the radio. The others could only understand fragments. Dani was very attentive and went to Toni. Toni gave him the radio." Alvaro, please help me with the anchor, "he said." Why, what is it "asked Juanma." Is the weather so bad? "
"No..yes...but only later"
Dani came back to them: "I'm on a mission, its a collision. People were thrown into the water. I said we'd go there now, is that okay with you?"
The four nodded. Toni and Alvaro had caught the anchor and launched the boat. "It's in front of one of the neighboring towns," Dani explained as he prepared.
"But why do ships collide? There's so much space here," said Zoe.
"It's mostly like driving a car. Taking risks and overconfidence." said Toni.
Dani had switched in rescue mode. He was concentrating on sorting out his equipment. The four stood at the rail. They could already see the spot. One ship was half submerged. "These are speedboats," said Alvaro. "That explains the collision," said Juanma.
They slowed down. Toni drove close to the coast guard boat. Dani let explain what they knew. There were already divers down below. In the half-sunken boat someone should be locked below the surface. Dani knew the divers. He was ready. Toni should keep his distance with the boat. Dani went briefly to Toni and the others. "When the weather gets worse you drive. You have to bring the kids home. I'm clear," he shouted and went into the water.
Toni steered the boat further away. "Why are we leaving?" Asked Juanma. "Dani doesn't want you to notice too much."
Alvaro had gone downstairs to the girls. It had started to rain and they sat downstairs. "Are you ok?" Zoe and Mia nodded. Alvaro went up again and he and Juanma watched as divers kept coming up. Toni explained something now and then. The half-capsized boat continued to sink. A person had been found, they heard over the radio.
"How deep is this here?" Asked Juanma.
"A good 50 meters" said Toni. The weather got worse. Mia and Zoe had come up anyway. Mia looked at the sky.
"Don't worry, tomorrow it will be all right and the boat will be safe." said Toni to her. Mia nodded. Toni watched the surface of the water. It came over the radio that the mission was canceled. All divers were up. Toni radioed back. Dani wasn't there yet.
