Mia saw Alvaro sitting on a blanket, he had prepared a picnic and was spreading his arms. Mia went to him and took him in her arms. "That's a great surprise", she exclaimed." I thought you were doing something with Lupe because Ramiro was talking to Mercedes."

"Lupe is with Agostina and Martin," said Alvaro with a smile.

"See you on Thursday," said Juanma and wanted to hug Mia goodbye.

"No, Juanma, you stay," said Alvaro. "You brought Mia to me and prepared everything, we'll eat together."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes," Mia and Alvaro said as if from the same mouth.

Alvaro had sandwiches and drinks, and a couple of candy bars. They sat down together. When everyone had eaten, Mia lay her head in Alvaro's lap. He stroked her hair. Mia pulled his head to her face and kissed him.

"Do you have any concerns about the conversation?" Asked Juanma after a while.

Alvaro looked at the water for a moment and then said " One of the things is concern. Mama is very unreasonable. I think she is very hurt, although it is her own fault. I cannot see what she is up to. I don't really care what there will be between her and Ramiro. But neither I nor Lupe should lose Ramiro from our lives. "

"You won't either," Mia said, "Papa wouldn't allow that at all"

"You are lucky with your papa, Mia do you know that?" said Juanma

Mia nodded proudly. "He's the best dad in the world".

Alvaro was lost in thought again. "Earth to captain," said Juanma, "don't worry too much." Alvaro nodded. "I'm going for a walk, I wanted to call Zoe," said Juanma more to leave the two alone a bit.

"Was it very bad at home?" Asked Mia. Alvaro told her what had happened at home. Also that Lupe was glad he was there.

"Do you need more days at home?" asked Mia.

"I need more days with you ... I've missed you. Juanma got the idea to do this. Mom doesn't even notice that I'm gone and he had an appointment with you anyway."

Mia smiled. "Yes, he wanted to eat ice cream with me. But that was a great idea," Mia said.

"We have written a lot in the last few days. Dani has also written to me. He wanted to know how it went at home."

"He liked you and all of us very much, I got the impression". Alvaro nodded. He looked at the water again. Mia straightened up. She took him in her arms. "Alvaro everything will be fine. Ramiro and Javier will bring Mercedes to her senses."

Alvaro nodded. "Mia it's so hard. My mother wasn't always like that. Now she's tough and relentless. She only looks that she could blame Ramiro or us . Lupe seems to be used to it, she has accepted it."

He swallowed. Then he said, "She doesn't seem to even notice when she's hurting someone. How can she say you're a mistake." Mia swallowed at the words.

"Try to not take it so hard," she said.

She hugged Alvaro. She hated not being with him in moments like this at home. She told him that too. "Mia you are always with me. If not in person, then in my heart. And these moments, like now, give me strength for everything."

Mia saw Juanma coming  back with a questioning look and waved him over. "Thank you Juanma" she said. "That you kidnapped me here." Juanma grinned. "Your wish is my command," he said and everyone had to laugh.

He felt comfortable with both of them. Although he missed Zoe very much, he enjoyed being with Mia and Alvaro, but had expected to leave them alone. He saw that Mia was wearing the bracelet. "That's nice, where did you get that from?" Alvaro was already laughing. "Alvaro gave it to me" she paused when she saw Alvaro and Juanma grinning. "You knew that, didn't you? Sometimes I wonder if it was better when  you hated eachother," she said, laughing.

The carefree afternoon by the river was good for everyone. Zoe had told Juanma that she would be bored  to death at home, but her parents felt that family time must be. "I'm glad that Florencia and Ramiro see us all as family," said Alvaro and grinned at the others. "Thank you both. It was really good to spend time with you." He said then and gave Juanma a short hug and took Mia in his arms. "I think we should go," he said then. Mia and Juanma packed the food and Alvaro folded the blanket. They brought Juanma home and Florencia greeted Mia and Alvaro. "I'm looking forward to the day after tomorrow.Bring Hunger with you, we'll have a barbecue" Alvaro nodded and Mia said "thank you Florencia."

Both said goodbye to Juanma. When they were back in the car, Alvaro put his hand on her leg. When they got to Ramiro's, they saw that his car wasn't there yet. Alvaro took a deep breath. "Would you like to stay here until he comes. Then you already know how ..." "No Mia, sorry, I have to go home, there will be more stress when I come after her and I don't want to leave Lupe alone, I hope you understand that".

"Sure" said Mia. "I love you and I can understand you. But please write to me, ok"

"Of course I'll do it," said Alvaro and kissed Mia goodbye.
