Ember knew all too well that she may never see them again. After their jaunt to town, she looked on in horror as her fears came to life. In the short time in which they had been gone, the adults had started putting up a huge fence around the whole town. She glanced back solemnly to see the wolves one last time as the chain link crossed in between them, cutting them off from one another. Ember glanced up at Evelyn who stood stiffly beside her, then she asked Evelyn "why are you putting a fence up."
Evelyn only replied, "For protection." Ember then asked, "From what?" Evelyn said, "From them. If you leave the fence without permission, even if there is someone with you, I will have the hunters kill them. Do not test my patience." Ember never felt safe at home after that day. Not long after, she started experiencing the same confusing dreams over and over again, It is always the same.
After she got herself to relax, she looked at her clock. It was only five in the morning, and she knew she wasn't going to go back to sleep. The walls of her room were white there was a window on the other side of her room from her bed with black curtains. She didn't have much in her room, just her dresser, bed, a desk and a nightstand. Ember had her own bathroom which made it easier not to wake anyone up.
Ember was usually the only one up this early. She got up and brushed her hair that was as black as the night sky like Evelyn's, but Ember's had loose curls. As she looked at the dark circles under her sky-blue eyes, she then looked at her eye's and thought they looked just a little darker today, she shook her head and got
