Owen was on the phone and said, "Mom, how are the defenses, are they all set to go?" Angela said, "yes no evil creatures are getting in the house." Ember looked at them a little confused. Owen came up to her and said, "there's something we haven't told you girls yet me and your grandma are hunters. We hunt monsters and keep them from hurting people. Grandma is retired now but she was a great hunter when she was still hunting. She had the ability to see the monsters' aura and know what they were just by looking at them. That skill gets passed to the women of our family. You will gain that skill when you turn 18." Ember flinched as he told them. she thought 'that means grandma can see the pack as they are and one day Kayla will be able to see them too.'
As Ember flinched Owen said, "I know you want to protect Kayla but she will inherit your grandma's eyes then she will be a hunter with you." Ember pulled away and said, "do we not get a choice in this?" Owen was worried as he said, "no you don't, the monsters have started attacking you and your powers haven't even awakened yet. you must go to learn to defend yourself." he wanted to say more but stopped as Demetrius's voice came into the house. Demetrius yelled "I can smell your blood I know you're here. you can't hide from me much longer."
Just then Nala ran in the house, she was in her human form but Ember could tell it washer. Lilly looked around and ran up to Ember she hesitated as she got closer. Ember hugged her and Lilly hugged Ember back and smiled. She then led Ember out of the room
