down Ember moved to attack, she hit the barrier above the beast's head and the beast hit her knocking her in the wall nearby. she began to fall as someone caught her, they moved her to sit on the ground as they said, "oh little one I'm so sorry." She knew his voice and the only one who called her that was Kojak.
Ember looked up and saw that it was him, she smiled and said, "so this is where you've been I'm so happy you're okay. I was worried about you but I didn't want to ask. I was kind of afraid of what they would say." Kojak smiled a sad smile as he sat her down and leaned her against the wall. He knew he was the one to hurt her. Ethen might have taken control of him but it was still his hands that hurt her and he felt terrible about that. He said, "you should rest, I'll keep you safe until Koda gets back and we can talk some more then okay."
Ember nodded as she started to fall asleep. she heard Gray call to her as she started to close her eyes. He had heard her sword touch the ground and he was worried something happened to her as he said, "just tell me if you're okay. Ember!" he wanted to go to her and was about to when Kojak answered for her. she could see Gray flinch at Kojak's voice as Kojak said, "she's fine my boy focus on your fight I can protect her until then."
Gray seemed to move faster then and Kojak said, "he's not being held back by his concern for you because I am here with you." Ember smiled and said, "thank you." Kojak looked at her with confusion as she passed out. Kojak stood guard as Gray fought, he managed to hit Ethen several times as he heard the rest of his pack join them.
