say he listens to me just doesn't want to make me mad I think." Jack said, "it seemed like he listened to you when you told him to stop earlier."
Ember shrugged and said, "he knew he was letting his anger get the better of him. I just helped him break through and get control of himself again." Jack wasn't sure whether to believe her or not so he moved onto the next question. He then asked, "okay what about the pack? They listened to you when you told them to stop and when Koda left, they should have followed Koda but instead they stayed with you and made sure you were taken care of. why is that?" Ember was confused as she said, "It was the same as with Gray their anger was getting the better of them and if they went with Gray who would protect me while he calmed down you act as if that's hard to figure out." Gray then added "I gave them orders to listen to Ember long ago and more recently I gave them orders to protect Ember that is their job right now."
Jack was surprised by this; no hunter could give orders to a pack for any reason. Some packs would work with hunters to a point but they wouldn't take orders from that hunter but this pack takes orders from Ember without hesitation. He wanted to know what made her so special but he didn't ask and just nodded. Ember asked, "who are you anyway and why are you asking all these questions? what does it matter to you?" Jack looked at Ember and said, "I'm a hunter. I kill threats to any humans. I was assigned to rescue a girl from vampires. That was the information I had. When I found you, you were being sacrificed and then a pack of shifters came to rescue you. I must accumulate data to see if they are a threat to you."
