Ember smiled and said, "I trust him." Alice smiled and said, "I don't think it was entirely about protecting you." Alice walked away as Ember's cheeks turned red again. Gray opened the portals and began directing the shifters into the portals, there were different shifters Some were bears, some were wolves, some were eagles, and more.
Alice was a wolf she stopped next to Gray as she said, "I like the way you are around this girl and she's kind of cute too. you should tell her how you feel before someone else tries to take her away from you. I think she feels the same as you." Alice went through the portal not giving him a chance to respond. as they talked Gray looked up at Ember, she was watching everyone leave as Pete walked over with Jack. Pete smiled and said, "do you even know what happened?" Ember simply said, "Gray made it, so I don't have to worry about the shifters."
Jack was angry, and Ember walked away not wanting to listen to him. Ember sat down with the pack, she got tired and laid down, she fell asleep shortly after. Gray continued to direct them through the portal when they were all through, he closed the portals and went back to the pack and Ember. He found she had fallen asleep. Gray opened the portal to the pack's hometown; he picked Ember up and Kojak offered to carry her for him.
Gray told him "I have her. the portal will close if Ember or I enter the portal before anyone else." When they got through Gray went to his room and laid her down on his bed, as Anna explained how they had been sleeping and why. He stayed up that night as he tried to figure out how he was going to explain the claim to Ember. Eventually Gray heard Anna knock at the door
