Alexandra then said, "kill them." Gray felt his body move, Lilly dodged him as he swung, she moved back as the rest of the pack moved closer and tried to get to Gray to knock him out but the best, they could do was dodge him. Anna then said, "we need to retreat. we can come back but none of us can get past him right now. Let's go to Ember. we can protect her for now." they all nodded and Jack was confused when they left. Alexandra tried to follow but hit one of the barriers Jack then asked, "why are you not staying by his side? I thought a pack always followed their leader no matter what."
Anna said, "they are following their alpha." Jack said, "but he was taken. how are you guys following him?" Anna said, nothing but Lilly said, "because Ember is our top priority she always has been." She shifted, none of them wanted to explain that even though Ember was a hunter she was like their alpha. because the whole pack had decided long ago if something happened to Gray, they would protect and follow Ember. So, right now Ember was their alpha; her safety was priority though. so, they wouldn't let her do anything that would get her hurt.
this wasn't the first time they sided with Ember and against Gray. They stayed to protect Ember's town when he had to agree to date Alexandra. They didn't agree with him on that.
