The picture of him and Alexandra popped in Ember's head again. she didn't know why it hurt so much as she thought 'Gray is my friend nothing more.' Gray got concerned when she got quiet and asked, "are you okay? you got quiet all the sudden." She shook her head and said, "Ya I'm fine just got lost in thought." not wanting him to ask what thought she got lost in she added, "I had another one of those nightmares again this time it was Kayla and grandma."
He was worried as he said, "I'm sorry you keep having nightmares. how often do you have them?" she looked at the blank wall for a second and said, "the new ones, just about every time I close my eyes the people are always who's around me at that time." She started to remind him that she didn't have a nightmare when she fell asleep in the truck but decided not to. She didn't know why she didn't have a nightmare then and didn't want to discuss it right now. Gray had just made it back when he felt something attack the barrier around the town he smiled as he said, "there here they just took out the first barrier."
She then asked, "why did you put barriers around the town?" he said, "to make it hard for them to find out you're not here. I better call your mom and dad to let them..." he cut off for a second as he felt the first barrier around Ember getting attacked and said, "they just started attacking the barrier near you. how did they know where you are? you should go hide somewhere safe." Ember said, "Okay."
They hung up as she went out to Kayla and Angela and said, "Gray just got an alert from the security device she set up and suggested we hide until he can know what's up." Angela said, "It's fine, dear heart, come sit with us." Ember then said, "I really think
