ready for school instead of trying to sleep. She always went to school early and hid behind the buildings till the bell rang. There she could see the woods that surrounded the town better and the mountains past the woods.

The school was close to the fence at the edge of town. The forest was made up of evergreen trees like pines and cedars. They were beautifully covered in the snow. It was about the only color around here. It was always cloudy here. she would occasionally see Nanook the alpha female of Kojak's pack and Koda's mother.

Ember would try to get her unsuccessfully to go away before one of the adult's see her. Ember worried about the pack getting close to the fence, but she was always happy to see them Ember was seventeen now and was a little more than a year away from Graduating and she couldn't wait as she thought 'they can't keep me here much longer.' The other kids picked on her because of the wolf thing so she avoided crowds as much as possible, but it didn't always help. she managed to get through her first few classes untouched, but lunch was a lot more challenging. As soon as she walked outside her books were knocked from her hands and she was pushed down; that's when she met the new kid, Gray.

He made the other kids back off and helped her gather her stuff. Gray had white hair and brown eyes that reminded her of Koda's he wasn't much taller than Ember and looked like he could hold his own in a fight the kids that had been picking on Ember had decided it was best not to test his strength at this time. Ember didn't look at him as she gathered her stuff and told him, "I have it. Look, its best if you don't help me. You might like it here if you take my advice." He was
