Alice looked at Ember and asked, "have you always had nightmares?" Ember shrugged and said, "as far as I know, for as long as I can remember I have had nightmares every time I go to sleep." Alice flinched and asked, "how did you handle them before?" Ember shrugged and said, "they weren't as bad then after Demetrius took me, they turned to the ones like what I told you and I would just push them out of my head. These last long enough that by the time I wake up it's almost morning anyway, so I just tried to push them out of my mind." Alice pulled a bed out from under hers and set it up as they talked. Alice tried to change the subject, but Ember could tell Alice was worried too. Ember sat on the bed after she was done, soon they were talking about random things.
Meanwhile the council had just finished, and Kojak came up to Gray and said, "I'm sorry I couldn't keep this from happening." Gray said, "it's not your fault none of us knew she was a part of Lee's family. How could we? Let's just focus on getting her back as soon as possible." Kojak nodded and Gray walked over to Richey and said, "you should know she has nightmares, and you shouldn't push her to do anything she doesn't want to. she will leave and she can use my sword so you can't stop her. she can't stand feeling like she is being controlled." Richey shook his head and said, "she will be fine. we can take care of her; you don't need to tell us how to care for her." Gray knew Alice's dad hadn't listened to him so Gray didn't want to waste his time, and so Gray left he warned him.
As Gray went home, he thought about Ember, he hoped she would be fine. When they got to the Pack
