Gray held Ember close to him as he let the barrier drop. He put the sword away, picked Ember back up with his other arm, and left with her. The hunters started to come at Gray but couldn't reach him before the portal closed behind him. He walked home with Ember. Anna helped him take his coat off Ember and her shoes before Gray laid her down in bed, he laid down next to her and wrapped his arms around her and fell asleep.
He was glad she was safe as they slept. When she woke up Gray was asleep next to her, she moved closer to him and started to fall asleep when he said, "please don't do that again. I don't think I can handle standing by as you fight again." Ember looked up at him and saw him looking at her. she smiled a little and said, "sorry I guess my anger got the better of me." he sat up and so she did too, he made her look at him as he said, "it was a good fight but at least don't keep me out next time. I can't protect you when you do stuff like that and I don't want to lose you."
Ember leaned into him and kissed him after a minute she said, "if you fought him, it would have broken the treaty and I could have lost you and I couldn't handle that. it was better if you weren't involved in the fight." he put his forehead to hers and said, "you should still not keep me out completely. how can I stop the fight if I can't get to you?" she smiled and said, "okay I will try to keep that in mind but if I go against another hunter you have to promise not to fight just stop the fight." He smiled a little and said, "I'll try to keep that In mind." as he moved closer and kissed her,
