arms fall to his side as he said, "I'm not a spy for your mom. I just want to know if you're okay. I just want to be your friend." Ember was mad she knew what she heard, and he had agreed to be Evelyn's spy. so, Ember glared at him and said, "I heard you say."
He cut her off and said, "I know you heard me say yes crystal clear when she asked if she was making herself clear and she was, but I never said I would follow what she said. I just said that she was making herself clear." Ember was pretty good at telling if someone was lying to her or not telling her the full truth. But she wasn't getting that from him. He seemed to be telling the truth, so she said, "I'm fine." And looked away he didn't believe her.
He could see a tear roll down her cheek. He reached up and wiped it away without thinking as he said, "if you're fine then why are you crying." she pushed his hand away and said, "what part of don't touch me don't you get?" He hadn't realized he touched her until she pushed his hand away. He hid his confusion about his actions as he smiled a little and said, "all of it." She rolled her eyes and started walking away. He caught up to her and asked, "So how are you really feeling?"
she was still upset as she looked down and said, "I'll be fine. it's just she's never taken it this far before I mean she's ripped them up before but never in front of me. she knows it hurts me every time." He just listened to her as she complained when they made it to her house. She felt a little better. She asked, "do you want to come in and get some hot coco?" He said, "okay."
