She almost didn't want to read the whole thing after he said, he took the pack with him but she forced herself to finish it. She hated the thought of not seeing them or Gray but was glad to know they were at least safe and away from Evelyn. She knew her sadness showed because Kayla asked, "what's wrong?" Ember told her that Gray had left Kayla was surprised she thought Ember and Gray would be together forever. Kayla had never seen Ember so happy at least not since the fence went up.
Kayla came over to comfort Ember but was told "I'm fine I saw it coming from the first day." Ember tried to hide her sadness but Kayla saw right through her. but didn't push and Ember was glad Kayla didn't and told her that she was tired. Kayla nodded and left the room. Ember shut her door, turned out her lights changed into something warmer and snuck out the window onto the roof and cried silently.
After a little bit she went back to bed and went to sleep. When Ember woke up, she thought it was all just a bad dream until she saw the letter again. It was a comfort to know she could call him, but she was upset she couldn't see him. She didn't call or text him and he gave her the time she needed. He didn't want to push her so he would just send a quick good morning text and good night text.
she didn't respond but she was glad to know he was at least thinking of her, but she didn't want to go to school after that so she told Owen that she didn't feel well enough. He let her stay home; she went to school the rest of the week though and the other students blamed her for Gray leaving. Though it was partially true it still hurt but she kept quiet and snuck around the building as often as she could. She wanted to text Gray
