Ajax was absent-mindedly looking at the scenic view before him. By then, Huntley had been talking to Ajax about their parents suggestion for Ajax to pursue higher studies in England.

"That's a good opportunity for you to get away for a bit. You are not interested in the family business. You have a crappy pay and boss at the train station. You can do your manuscript while studying in England. Why don't you give it a try?"

Ajax remained silent.

"Ajax ..." No reply. "Ajax ..."

"Huh?"

He looked at Huntley totally confused.

"England."

"Oh ..." Ajax half-heartedly responded.

"Why, you don't want to go to England?"

"No."

"It doesn't have to be England. You can go to Australia, France, anywhere."

"I don't want to go." Ajax said seriously at Huntley.

"Why?"

"Dad and mom flew back to England last night. Who will keep tabs on you, eh?"

"Why you little brat?!" Huntley punched Ajax lightly on the arm.

"Besides, what will you do when I'm gone?"

"Dude, you are not dying. You are just studying abroad for a year or two."

Huntley paused as he slowly drove the car to the side road.

"I need to take a leak."

"Me too."

Ajax and Huntley relieved themselves by the trees. It was Ajax who finished first. He walked a few steps away from the car to stretch a bit.

He saw a bench and sat on it as he looked at the lake. It'd been too long since he had seen something so beautiful as the sight before him.

"Remember the summer we've spent in Alaska?" Huntley said as he sat beside Ajax.

"Yeah, grandpa's old cabin by the lake."

"We swam, fished and even got chased by a ...

"Bear!" Ajax and Huntley said at the same time and laughed.

"If grandpa had not been there, you and I had been dead."

"Yeah." Huntley said a bit sad. "I don't want anything like that to ever happen to us again."

"Hey, cheer up. That happening again is one in million."

"Yeah ..." Huntley seemed not convinced something in his guts tell him that something bad was going down.

"Huntley," Ajax said as Huntley seemed to space out. "I'm driving. Where are we heading next."

Ajax stood up and walked to the driver's seat.

"Route 75." Huntley replied as he threw the key to Ajax.

As their car drove away, the dead fishes in the lake started being washed ashore.
